Agree with most on here, wasn't sure at first but it is growing on me. I am not trying to stir the pot but it does kinda sound like that Oasis song as others have said....doesn't this bother anyone?
I have never listened to Oasis and don't think I ever will. That being said, I did listen to a link someone provided of the song in question. I couldn't hear the similarities, they're just such totally different band.
You must not be a musician.
Na Dude you're totally right. I play guitar, its the same chords and progression in the beginning. The difference is pj takes it somewhere else when the chorus kicks in. But the best part is the sick breakdown at the end of the chorus when ed's singing, "What do you say, meditate? (sick breakdown) Meditate, Ole!" That part I fucking love. Yea the beginning is the same for both songs but they're two completely different animals.
The first time I heard Ole was live in Vancouver and I loved it. Not sure I would have liked it right away if I'd heard the studio version first. The punk energy is so vital and gripping live, the song really whacks you in the face. Definitely easier to get way into it live than the Backspacer songs have been for me-- though after the Canada tour I think I'm finally starting to get Backspacer.
Love it!!! Nice little random nugget dropped for our listening pleasure. Pearl Jam might take a leaf out of the Radiohead Book of Doing Things and just leave Ole as just that. A once-off gift.
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”

Listened to Don't Believe the Truth just now, Meaning of Soul started and my first thought "wait, did I put on playlist that also has Pearl Jam on it?"
"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"
I really like Olé. I also like Evacuation, and Johnny Guitar is one of my favorite songs off of an otherwise-mediocre Backspacer. I suppose a part of it is that I'm a drummer, and I really like the odd time signatures and rhythmic breakdowns that Matt does on these songs. They are some of the funnest songs to sit down and pound out on the drumkit.
