i haven't booked a hotel yet, but we should definitely designate a thread to judge overall interest, perhaps enough people will convey an interest and we could potentially book a block of rooms and realize a group rate discount - i did a "hotel" search near the venue, and thus far i'm leaning towards the crowne plaza or hampton inn, though i'd prefer to get a deal under the published rate

I am going to be actively looking for a hotel.....I don't want to stay in a "shady McShade" hotel where I might step on the floor and get poked by a crack needle...so, I am hoping to find a good rate at a quality place...

ah come on.. just make sure you keep flip flops on at all times and you'll be fine.

and besides, a little crack never hurt anyone

LOL..the crack doesn't bother me..it's the dead "call girl" hidden under the bed that scares me..it's her needle!!

I like how you used the professional name "call girl" and not hooker. Thank you for keeping it respectable here on the porch

sweet, hotels in albany have call girls and crack? and we get to see eddie? what a weeken this will be:)

    hehe.

i booked at the holiday inn express. seemed the cheapest. If a group rate gets going though i think i'd be interested in jumping ship. As long as it's walkable to the venue i'm happy.

he's got that effect on me too, i'm not afraid to admit. dead hookers won't stand in my way of getting to his show.

Me and a friend of mine are going to the shows, we only live an hour from albany but were thinking of getting a hotel just so we can drink and not worry about driving.
I cant think of where in albany the palace is, I remember driving past it before but am drawing a blank. Is it in downtown near the bars on pearl st?

$140 a night.. I just want a bed in a room lol. I don't want the hooker/crack needle but dont need no luxury, surely there is cheaper than $140?? As I am probably going to NYC the next day, gotta find a bus service! or something lol. fun times ahead.

There is a Hampton Inn not 100 yards from venue. Not cheap ($180) but may be worth a call for a group rate.

Isn't there like an motels.. like $50 a night around there? I don't mind sharing with a dead hooker, as long as she doesnt steal all the bed covers :?

    Crowne Plaza
    40 lodge street
    Albany,NY 12207

This is very close to the Palace and is very close to North Pearl Street which is where all the bars are. The nicest hotel in Downtown and chances are that Eddie if he gets aroom and doesn't use the bus will be staying there as well. I don't know the rates but it's worth not having to drive to a hotel in a surronding community IE: Latham,Troy,Colonie. There are a ton of hotels near the SUNY campus as well for those that are just looking for cheap rooms for the night. They are all new hotels built in last few years and they are all very well kept and safe.

Not trying to sound like a know it all..... I grew up in Downtown Albany and if I can help answer any questions for you all just send me a PM.

Hope you have a great time at the show/s

I stayed there for the PJ show in '06 and it was decent. It's pretty pricey now, unless we can get a group rate.

Not really that close and there is nothing to do up there either. But lots of hotels just off I-90.
