There is still time to donate to the THE GREAT TURTLE RACE 2009, Pearl Jam Audience Favorite!

Take the Pearl Jam Audience Favorite Challenge and your gift will be matched to Conservation International!

Only one turtle can win the race. That’s why we’ve created our Audience Favorite category. Show your support of our favorite turtle, "BACKSPACER"! It’s easy.

    1. Make a donation. Your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a generous donor.
    2. Vote for our favorite #1 turtle, Backspacer.
    3. We will tally the winner and announce our audience favorite at the end of the race at http://www.conservation.org/TurtleRace

    https://secure2.convio.net/cintl/site/D ... donation...

Your generous support will go directly to Conservation International’s work protecting species including leatherback turtles and the habitats they call home. Your gift will also help communities of people that depend upon healthy ecosystems for their very survival.
Everyone is born, but not everyone is born the same. Some will grow to be butchers, or bakers, or candlestick makers. Some will only be really good at making Jell-O salad. One way or another, though, every human being is unique, for better or for worse.

    Day 13:

"Estéban, Nueva Esperanza, and Seabiscuit all crossed into the Caribbean in a photo finish! But it looks like it was Seabiscuit by a beak length with Estéban and Nueva Esperanza tying for third place. Estéban crossed into the Caribbean, and it looks like Wawa Bear has decided to come in and nest on the beach in French Guiana. Grembo and Searcher are still hanging around in the eastern Atlantic. Nightswimmer seems to be headed straight back north."

Not a big deal but, you can hear what Eric Shanteau the coach of Backspacer says about why PJ chose the name at the 7:10 mark.

    Day 14:

"Wawa Bear made it just under the wire! She joins Seabiscuit in the winners’ circle just off the coast of Suriname and French Guiana as the final turtle to complete this year’s race. All the turtles were tagged off Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in July 2008. They began their migrations in September, and the data used to create the race were collected through the beginning of March. The real duration of the migrations was four to six months, but we condensed it down to two weeks for the Great Turtle Race. What we’ve learned will help protect these endangered turtles and their offspring."

Honestly never thought I'd see the day when a Turtle had me on the edge of my seat  ! My kids are lovin' this (and we donated)..."Do it for the children Backspacer!"

My daughter got into the turtles' 'plight' when we were in Greece a few years back... She's supporting Searcher because it's the smallest one in the race and she thinks it deserves a bit more support as she is competing against bigger and stronger!
its all greece,,and backspacer the name of the new album..
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
    "..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
