The song (Falling Down ) was played ONLY once (live) back in the summer of 95 in Colorado. I recently discovered this song on Youtube and seen it listed on a bootleg set list along with (OLD MAN). The Pearl Jam website classifies it as an "IMPROV" AND (old man ) as a cover? This is a very touching song. A masterpiece! Does anyone know the lyrics and the meaning? This is no B- side, this song is great just the way it is...live, raw . The last minute of the song leaves a big dry gulp in your throat. I didnt know that guitars can talk to each other. Just like Uncle Neils Hurricane ...left me hypmotized...Tunnel Vision back to the 70's then dragged through the 80's (with ear plugs on) back on all 4's in the 90's and then the millennium...went through four decades w/o drugs.

  • This song is amazing.
The lyrics (from The Sky I Scrape site):

Oh something to remember me by
Oh something to place in your hand
Oh something so you will feel all grown up when you call my name
    Oh, i'm falling down, down...
    I'm falling...
    I don't know when i'll be up
    Before your call, please remember
    Frozen like stone, yeah
    He'll be flesh and blood
    I'll be gone
Oh just a memory passing like pages in a book
    I'm falling down...
    I'm falling...
    I'm falling...
Don't know if i'll get up
    You're a boy...
    You're a boy...
    You're a boy...
    I know why you'll be...
    Can't guess your side
Oh no, the cry of a newborn child
    Can't feel the heat
    Of something fresh coming
    Can somebody hide me
    I cannot apolo...
    I cannot apolo...
    I cannot apologize

  • Thanks for the Lyrics.
I dont know where they got the lyrics from but this song sounds very very personal. Now I know why they didnt publish it.

The Lyrics as heard by me....
Oooooh something to remember me by
Ooh something to place in your hand
Oooh something so you will feel all grown up when you become a man
    Ooooh, i'm falling down, down...
    I'm falling...
    I don't know when i'll be up
    Before your call, please remember
    Frozen like stone, yeah
    He'll be flesh and blood
    I'll be gone
Oh just a memory passing like pages in a book
    I'm falling down...
    I'm falling...
    I'm falling...
Don't know if i'll get up
    You were born...
    You're a boy...
    You're a boy...
    I know where you'll be...
    Can't guess your size
or know the color of your new born child
    can feel the feet
    of soft and fresh coming
    Can somebody hide me
    I cannot apolo...
    I cannot apolo...
    I cannot apologize

  • This song is beautiful ... it has a haunting chill about it. Like it's unearthing something very very deep.

    Very sad...
This is, this is ... my ... last exit.
  • Great song. But I doubt it will never be played ever again. Sounds like he is talking to an unborn child that was aborted

  • Thank You Ten Club
Well ladies and gentlemen I just received the surprise of my life in the mail today. The PJ fan 2011 club single is that show in (Red Rocks) Morrison Co.1995 Fallen Down and No Jeremy. I am touched that the PJ members see's it's value. An only played once song will play endlessly on my little brown turntable.
I cant thank the Ten Club enough.

It was SUCH an awesome and moving show from beginning to end..I can't wait to go get blank CDs and make myself copies of all the shows pre-2000 that I've been to..( for personal use only..) I really hope they play there again.. it is such a religious experience.. I didn't want to go back to Ca after seeing this place.. it is just so amazing, the only thing I can imagine being close would be the Gorge ( which I've never been to but want terrifically to go see!) and then on top of the beauty and incredible acoustics.. it was PJ I was seeing.. that show still has the power to give me the shivers just like the night I went and saw it..

Bump for a chilling song... And a fantastic show! Raw emotion in the voice and I agree it's mesmerizing how the guitars talk to each other.

  • So, I was just listening to this and didn't really know if it was considered a PJ original. It is listed here on the website as being a cover, so I guess it's considered a Rockfords song? I'm still confused, but it is an absolute gem.
