The new generation - Mr. & Mrs.

I live on the west coast, USA. The kids around these parts don't call adults "Mr." or "Mrs".  They call adults by their first name.
I'm 44 and my daughter is 12.  When I was a kid, I called the next door neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson.  Not Barb and George.

What's happening in your neck of the woods?  And what's your opinion on this?

I don’t want any kids calling me mister or sir. I’m not their teacher, and I’ve never been knighted.

I always said Mr. and Mrs. Even in recent years. But I always, even as a child had adults repeatedly telling me to call them by their first names.

I suspect so many people dislike being called Mr. or Mrs. that they continually tell youth to refer to them by their first name. Now people my age may not be teaching their children to do so.
