Concert 2

He painted the piano towering
fearless with rectangular grey shadows
and white for definition, and holding
court in a concert hall lucidly bold
with bright 2D flashes. The centerpiece.
Circled by whimsy of flowers and sewn
garlands of firs, this monster, this roaring
lion, this wood qualified for the show.

Dwarfed by the piano in height only
she commands her music sheets and listens
for silence. The audience stoicly
freed in measures accomplishes the sin
of breathing at her heart's pace publicly.
She steadies the lion, her teaching friend.
