In Henry Rollins' most recent book, Before the Chop III, Mr. Henry talks about walking the streets of Santiago, Chile and spotting a Charles Mingus in a shop window. Henry goes into the shop, inquires about local Chilean music and one thing leads to another and he ends up getting introduced to some of the folks at BYM (Blow Your Mind) Records.
I checked out on line a couple of the bands Rollins mentioned and liked them a lot and picked up a couple very cool neo-psychedelia Chilean rock albums, Föllakzoid II by Föllakzoid and Thru Me Again by La Hell Gang.
I love discovering new (to me) music and so hearing about these little know bands was a good score. There's more of this kind of stuff coming out of Chile. Anoyone out there into this stuff, please tell us what you've got!
