Songs Pearl Jam should cover/record?

thispureamericanriotthispureamericanriot California Posts: 514
I've always been very interested in the songs Pearl Jam covers. The fact that most are unconventional is what I like most about them. I thought I'd start this thread with what I think is a total "off the wall/outta left field" choice, but I think Ed would nail the Greg Lake vocal and I can imagine the band slamming this tune: Emerson, Lake & Palmer - "Love Beach".

Damnit. Even I can't argue that. Even though Jeff would rock the bass line of Big Bottom.

I started this thread because I think PJ does a good job on the recent cover of Brandi Carlile's "Again Today". Though her lyrics leave a bit to be desired - Eddie sings them with sincerity so it works. If PJ can make Brandi rock, I suppose Spinal Tap's "Sex Farm" is a slam dunk! ;)

I've always wished they'd cover another Clash song. Know your rights is cool, but there are others I think they would kill. Maybe Tommy Gun? Brand New Cadillac?

I like when they do more pop-ish songs like I Got You. I'd love to see them do any of the following and I think they'd really nail them.

Brandy (you're a fine girl) - the Looking Glass
Lips Like Sugar - Echo and the Bunneymen
We Just Disagree - Dave Mason
Heartbreak Beat - the Psychedelic Furs
Rain in the Summertime - The Alarm
    Bad - U2

and I think Ed solo would be great on these.
Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper
    Your Song - Elton John
    Annie's Song - John Denver
