TOTD shows: What if Eddie sang his part remote from home and was piped in?

nycratsnycrats Posts: 1,348
Like the screen shows him "live from Seattle" or Chicago or whatever and he has an earpiece and a mic and gets piped in to the show real time, still singing his part live but not actually there, is that too "hologram Tupac"?

Really don't think he shows up at most, if even any, of these shows. Would something like that be even doable or is that just awkward? I'm not generally a fan of just a recorded video of an artist singing their part(like gorillaz does at times), I think a live satellite performance would be (just barely) better though.

Eddie's contribution to TOTD is mainly one song. One epic song for sure, but just one song. It would be great for him to be there but I don't think we need him to sing from home or anything.

Since the announcement of the opener, I've given up any hope of Eddie being there.

I'm ok with it, the show's going to kick ass regardless.

Yeah I definitely agree he ain't coming to sing 2 minutes. But the song will be played, wonder who sings his part. Hologram Tupac, hologram Eddie?

I think a lot of people are gonna be let down once they realize he's not there. People seem convinced he's going to tour to sing 25 words

The opening act is going to sing Eddie's Hunger Strike part, and then EV will likely show up for the Seattle show, and maybe one other. That's my best guess.

Since Pearl Jam has done Hunger Strike so many times without Cornell, I'm sure Eddie is more than willing to sit these shows out.

David Bowie and Mick Jagger wanted to do a live duet of Dancing In The Street at Live Aid, with Bowie in London and Jagger in Philly. The delay was too much of a problem for a live performance, but that was 30 years ago. I think even now it would be a complete mess, but as a novelty it would be interesting.

Less than a month to go. Why don't we all just wait and see what happens? This could a once-in-a-lifetime tour, let's just enjoy it whether Eddie shows up or not.

I was at Coachella for the Tupac Hologram, and would hate it if they did something like that. It wouldn't work. The whole point of the ToTD project was authenticity and love (for Andrew), at least in my opinion, phoning it in by using technology would be disrespectful.

To clarify, in my opinion, it would be better not to be there at all than to use such technology. I'd love it if EV shows up for a few shows, but if he doesn't, I'd rather have the opener or another band member sing his parts, live and in person.

I don't think that I was clear with my opinion either, but I am very much on board with mwplum's sentiment here - I would rather no Eddie than any sort of hologram or pre-recording or anything else like that.

TOTD is about so much more than Hunger Strike, and if that song doesn't have EV singing on it, I don't really care (it would be fun & awesome, but the night's going to be fun & awesome enough on its own). I'm looking forward to Wooden Jesus, Pushing Forward Back & Say Hello to Heaven more than anything else. The rest of the songs they play will be bonus for me.

I'm also looking forward to seeing Stone & Mike play together on different material. These two guitarists are so much fun to watch / listen to together, I'm really psyched to have the opportunity to see them play TOTD music live.

If the Cubs do in fact go "All The Way" - Eddie is going to be partying like a champ in Chicago for a month straight with zero chance of him showing up. Him being there would be just an added bonus to a crazy tour that most people thought would never happen but for those thinking he's going to be there, I wouldn't count on it. As previously mentioned, he's barely on the album to begin with and the fact that the TOTD and MLB albums have been re-issued should give you an idea what the show/set list is going to look like. It's the "remember Andy Wood Tour" which is a good thing to look back on a fallen friend who is a huge part of history. Ed never knew Andy the rest of the guys did and for them, 25 yrs have passed, this tour is about their friend, plain and simple. I'm looking forward to hearing all the TOTD songs that weren't played at PJ20 and I'm also looking forward to the MLB songs - I've only heard 2 played live, Crown of Thorns and Stardog Champion - it will be really cool seeing all those other songs dusted off and performed now all these years later. Those old tunes have to carry a ton of weight with these guys - it's going to be special!
