Will PJ still be putting on mega shows like Wrigley/Fenway into their 60s?

Just wondering how long we can expect to keep getting these amazing shows. I was fortunate enough to see Springsteen last night and he delivered 36 songs and almost 4 hours of non stop rock and roll. I'm amazed that he could still do that at 68 and it got me to wondering if our guys will still be doing it when they hit that age.

It's quite possible. They have been trending towards cementing their legacy as the top rock act definitely since 1990 and quite possibly since the 1970's. Guns N Roses were in that battle but forfeited that right many years ago. Who else since the 80's? Metallica or RHCP are the only 2 I can think of. After Saturday, we can eliminate Whitesnake! Ha! Anyhow, PJ have definitely given up on full blown world tour type of runs. I suspect it is in part to help prevent them getting burnt out. I also think it is because they realize the supply and demand aspect of it. If they currently tour all the time with many shows, it's just no big deal. When they have 18 shows every 15 months (arbitrary figures because I'm too lazy to look) then 4 are stadium shows at historic venues = BIG DEAL! There are casual fans all over Chicago right now that will be saying "I got to see PJ at fucking Wrigley field! They played Evenflow and Jeremy and it was fucking EPIC!" Only by then, we will probably havery replaced the common use of "epic" with "boss".

They have worked hard, sacrificed a lot of money early on and done a lot of stuff right to get where they are. They have a swagger onstage now, like never before because they realize where they are historically. The ride has been great, and for me (along with many others I believe) hit an all time high this weekend. That indicates to me that they will continue their ascension towards a legitimate all time great. 50 years from now Mt. Rushmore type of band.

True...Bruce just has to worry about Bruce. If something happens to one of his band mates, he will (and has) plug in someone else. Which is totally fine.

PJ would most certainly end their career I think.

I'm sure they will be. Though I wouldn't mind if they did some small Pearl Jam Casino Tour run of shows.

Bruce seems to be aging at a much slower rate than the rest of the E Street Band. Not that they look bad, they just look their age. Bruce meanwhile has clearly has found the fountain of youth.

I sure am not going anywhere. I see this band with still a helluva lot more to give and go. I still yet to see any signs of slowing down.

I agree. But the "slowing down" comes quickly. Not a long history of bands playing *these* kind of shows into their 60s.

You still have a lot of bands going really strong. You have a lot of bands still giving tremendous shows like Bruce, Kiss, The Stones, just to name a couple. These guys have that kind of energy.

Less frequent tours, but they can easily hold their own for another decade.

Bruce, I think is the model. But then again, I don't think his songs require quite the vocal stamina of much of Pearl Jam's catalogue.

    Bruce, Tom Petty, The Who...

    They're the Template

Pearl Jam has always been and will always be the soundtrack to my life. And if we can still follow them around the world as the strangest tribe we be? That's all gravy to me, man!

Also these boys can sell out stadiums on multiple nights so let's not overlook the cash thrown their way to motivate them to perform well into their 60's.

McCartney is 74 and plays 3 hours a night and more shows a year than PJ. It depends if they want to.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

Would people be happy with 25-30 shows every couple years (as long as they spread it out geographically) with 2-3 more albums for the next 10 years? Is that even realistic?

I think Bruce is a great indicator of things to come. Because there is just getting up there, like the Rolling Stones, and there is doing what Bruce and the e street band does, playing with energy and inspiration, and a purpose.

Seams like pj keeps themselves in shape and have found a pace that works for them.

Let's hope we all grow old together.
