i know i come off like a dick many times, but my honest question is... does it matter if they are licensed? i don't know why it would need to be?

licensed, as in terms of meaning that the band gave the artist permission to use their likeness in the artwork?

My primary reason for asking is because the guy is claiming it's a limited edition and my concern is who is keeping track of how many prints he pumps out.

Beyond that... The faq's specifically state no selling bootleg merch or links to stores here. Both of which this post manages to run afoul of.

I've bought and traded a lot of stuff on here and I would hate to see it get shut down because people don't follow the few basic guidelines. That would ruin it for the rest of us. So to answer your question... For those reasons it does matter to me if its licensed.

It's a Pearl Jam-inspired poster. It's not a Pearl Jam poster (not commissioned by Pearl Jam), he doesn't claim that it is. Read the description on Etsy.

Brian is a huge Pearl Jam fan.

I'm sure he's a huge fan. But that doesn't mean we can link to his etsy store.

Who keeps track of anything that's "limited edition"? I think as PJ fans, we should be most aware that the term is very liquid.

This isn't bootleg merch. Maybe the etsy link is out of bounds, but surely they've made exceptions for this sort of thing. This is art inspired by artists...I'd think they could appreciate that.

Seems more like you want to come off as the resident badass. Maybe the seller will get shut down and Ed will come by your house and give you a nice pat on the back.

Not sure why the need for hostility dude.

My only point is that I view the trading/selling forum here like a nice scenic spot at the beach or the mountains where everyone picks up after themselves and keeps it nice for the next guy. No need for people to start leaving beer cans and sandwich wrappers laying around and possibly ruin it for the next guy.

The mods have treated us like adults and only have a handful of rules to guide how we operate. I just think it's bad form to ignore the few rules they have given us and force them to start scrutinizing posts.

Same artist who did this poster and posters of the other band members. The links have been posted before. Not sure why it'd be an issue now.

i met Brian in Cincinnati at the 2014 tour stop. stand up guy. i see your point about posting legitimate links to legitimate stuff. as far as the print being licensed, he does mention that the art is inspired by pearl jam. he doesn't come right out and say it's a pearl jam poster. not taking any sides on the issue, but Brian is a fan like the rest of us. his posters don't remind me of hack jobs trying to make money off the band, but i can see how it might be construed that way.

I'm sure he's a huge fan. But that doesn't mean we can link to his etsy store.
It doesn't feel funny to me but I get where you are coming from. This is easily resolvable, you can report to the mods and they will decide.

If there's an issue, they'll close it and warn the poster. If not, then not.

This poster is a labor of love, not a cash grab IMO. The artist should be allowed to link to his Etsy site where it can be purchased.

I apologize as I didn't mean any harm or mean to ruffle any feathers of anyone in our community.

I just saw this & I thought others would be interested. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

Brian also did a poster at PJ20 for the 2nd Annual Poster Convention...

... And for the 3rd Annual Poster Convention ....

As others have stated, he has done several Pearl Jam inspired prints...
