Ticket Drop Strategy

So the other day there was an MSG ticket drop. I know several people on here (and elsewhere) have mentioned getting good tickets via ticket drops. What I want to know is how those that have succeeded go about this. Do you check every day at a certain time? Certain times? Just check whenever you pick up your phone?

I'm depending on a ticket drop for a concert (not PJ) this summer so I'm looking for pointers. I've never been able to get tickets in a ticket drop before.

I believe the MSG drop was discovered out of persistence and regularly checking back in. I'm signed up for text alerts but never got any, only discovering it when it was posted on the board.
Drops are occasionally announced via the band, venue, or promoter's social media channels so I'd recommend following those. More often than not, drops occur closer to the show once holds are released or after load-in when they realize they can sell tickets that they previously thought would be obstructed or otherwise unavailable.

The drops are usually within a week of the show, most often the day before or the day of. In addition to obstructed seats, the band often has seats put aside for friends and family. If these are not used, they go back for sale.

The Springsteen community has a great system run by one fan. I'm not sure if they're constantly on the computer or what, but you pay $10 per show, the money gets donate to charity, and the person that runs it sends you a text immediately when there is a drop. It's worked great for Bruce fans.

Anyone have a success story of a ticket drop for Wells Fargo Center in Philly?

Isn't that unfair to all the people who were not ready for it at a published time? Kinda like tickets going on sale a day before the published sale date for the Fenway 1 show.

Tickets are always held back from the general on-sale for band guest list/promoter/venue for nearly every concert played anywhere. It's just a matter of IF and when they're released to the public.

I've purchased prime seats to shows for face value multiple times on Ticketmaster/Live Nation/AXS in the days leading up to and day of show, sometimes as close to a couple hours before the show.
