Santa Barbara Acoustic Show?

I'm bored drinking nugget nectar and watching live at the garden and went to looked up the set list...didn't realize in 03 they also opened up with an acoustic set in Santa Barbara. I always hear of mansfield but never this show. Interesting.

Prolly doesn't deserve a thread but like I said I'm pretty bored

Probably because this show doesn't have an official boot... you tend to remember the Mansfield and Gorge acoustic presets because they're widely available in top quality. I don't think the Santa Barbara show got released? Maybe a Candidate for a vault?

Pretty sure you can get it off the gremmie website. It's not the best recording and some dude was wooing throughout most of the opening songs which became nauseating to try and listen to the rest.

I did not have the pleasure of attending this special fundraiser show for Cedars-Sinai Med Center where Johnny Ramone was being treated for cancer, (my son was sick at the time) but I listen to this show all the time.....it is fabulous!!
It's an audience boot and there's a lot of crowd noise but it's really not that bad and well worth listening. It seems like it was a follow up to Benaroya Hall which was recorded a few days before.
Very unique set list.....feels like all the songs were being sung to Johnny personally.
If they could clean it up a bit...I think it would be a good vault contender.

Side note... the 2006 Santa Barbara show was amazing too! (I was there :) )
The entire opening set was played acoustic, sitting down, with the sun still up till Crazy Mary. Gorgeous weather, amazing set list and the boys sounded great!

i believe the only bit of this show officially released appears on the 2003 holiday single . "i believe in miracles" from the acoustic set, and "reach down" from the first encore. i think is a really great show that i would love to see as a future vault release.
i have witnessed some performances. i have soaked up a lot of memories.

It's an awesome show, and I REALLY want them to make it the next Vault.

I was at this show and it remains the greatest Pearl Jam show I've ever seen. It was a fundraiser with lots of special guests (hence the difficulty in releasing it I think).

Also of note at the time, and now almost a footnote, was the reunion for the first time in 20 years of Temple of the Dog. At that time no one ever thought they were going to play together. So it was monumental at the time.

Now with TOTD everywhere, it is no longer special. But being there at the time it was mind blowing.

I remember when this show happened, it seemed to get more hype on the message board than the Benaroya Hall show. People were super excited about the TOTD reunion at the time. I can't recall but I think Santa Barbara was announced first and then the Benaroya Hall show was announced as somewhat of a warmup show. With the help of the vinyl/CD release of Benaroya Hall, it's obviously eclipsed the Santa Barbara show in PJ lore.

This show is my #1 pick for a PJ Vault release. I hope they choose it soon!
