with the exception of the show being delayed, I thought it was good.

Redemption song was a nice surprise (next Christmas single) and RITFW rocked

  • Was in vip3 section which was probably about 80% people who were primarily there to see Pearl Jam. Crowd off a little, probably from combo of no alcohol at site, being waaaay much farther back seating wise than used to (vip3 section equivalent of rear lawn seats for most outdoor venues they play), and buzzkill of speech after speech that seemed like same message over and over for about 30 minutes after Beyonce ended. Just when you thought it was time to go on, they introduced another speaker, so some boos near end. Irony is these are probably the same people who have no issues waiting hours in line for Ames poster.
Alive was very good version. Lightning Bolt maybe a little better than usual version, rest of "first set" pretty standard. Ed's voice on the non acoustic stuff maybe a little deeper/off compared to usual. Imagine definitely the highlight, especially since in Central Park. Redemption Song with Beyonce very cool too, broken up by Nelson Mandela speech. Nice version with them trading verses. Was kind of hoping for her husband to come on next and do 99 Problems again like Made in America but got the expected RITFW.
Quality effort with two rarities/breakouts but if I would have paid extra premium on secondary market tickets or traveled a long way, I'd be a little disappointed given length of show.

Just got home! The day went as expected, more or less. I enjoyed all the music acts (REALLY enjoyed Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé). I think they had too many speakers, especially between Beyoncé and Pearl Jam, they should have just went from Bono to Pearl Jam.

Pearl Jam sounded amazing. I loved Redemption Song with Beyoncé, that was nicely done. You guys going to the Latin America tour are in for a treat, Ed's voice sounds great.

Spent most of the day around some cool Beyoncé fans in VIP2, and then me and my buddies brought it for Pearl Jam. Hope the band could feel the energy from behind VIP1. The mix of people in VIP1 was...interesting.

All in all, super stoked that I got to see Pearl Jam twice in my awesome city and very happy that they are sounding really tight. I mean, I just saw my favourite band in Central fucking Park! Dude.

The circle is complete; got to PJ with Jay-Z on the great Art Museum steps in Philly (my home) & now PJ with Beyoncé in the landmark that is the great Central Park in the beautiful NYC!

Also just remembered a few more highlights. Ariana Grande with Coldplay was really lovely. They did a song that Harry Styles wrote. Not sure if that means it's a One Direction song or a song he wrote for her to sing. I've never heard her before, kinda wrote her off as a manufactured pop singer but I loved it! Sheeran with Beyoncé on a Beyoncé song was nice too.

On the train home. Still processing. Watching again. We were super close and actually moved to the side a bit for some more breathing room. Was a great spot bc I could jump around without stepping on anybody. I heard daughter live for the first time since my 98 show... And I was in attendance with my almost 16yo daughter who is such a champ to endure this day with me. She really wanted gtf and dte and got them both. The band sounded amazing! Stone killed that solo in ritfw. He was having fun and dancing around a lot. I'm sure they would have loved to play more. It feels like an appetizer. Definitely left me yearning for more. When is the next tour announcement? I miss you already.

Thank you Pearl Jam. Until next time....

Didn't attend, so I won't hijack the Fanviews thread, but I just wanted to say that I spent the live broadcast in a real-time chat with a dear friend and fellow Pearl Jam fan whom some people here might remember. She's a lovely soul and I had a blast "witnessing" the concert with her. Great times!

We all expected that the set might be short. Despite the length, the boys sounded incredible. Love this band too much to be upset that it was so short.

I heard the entire show from outside the great lawn. The delayed start helped me get into a good listening spot to hear everything. I knew it was a good sign when the first police officer I asked for directions said he could the acts all the way at 72nd and fifth. Would I have liked to be there in the location, sure, but I was working (covering the Yankee game at 4:05) and don't necessarily have 175 or 225 to spend on concert tickets, especially for a 12-song setlist. The set was about what I expected though redemption song and Imagine sounded great. So thanks from beyond the fence for another show and yes I'm counting one I heard from outside the fence as attending a show.

Def not anywhere near a typical show.... I still had fun in vip3

Obviously selfish me wanted 30-40 more minutes

Stoping at 10:15ish is odd on a Saturday night in NYC

Just got back from show....stupid me forgot to add extension on dvr.... Only like 3 songs taped

Making my way home and overall I'd say great night. My highlight was getting separated from my friend and chillin alone off to the side in VIP 2. A security guard comes and asks me why I'm alone so I say I lost my partner.
He then tells me it's too nice of a night to be alone and let's me into VIP 1.
I then make my way about 3 off the rail and go nuts!

What a gorgeous night!! Overall a very well organized festival. We got in around 6:00 right after Ed sheeran stopped playing. As we were walking in thousands of fans were exiting lol
Beyoncé was cool to watch; very very different from what I m used too but damn can she sing and dance!
After that there were just waaaaaaay to many speakers. At one point people started booing the ceo of some company. Forty minutes of speakers was just absurd; we got it, end global poverty!
Pj sounded great. Mym was a very odd song to start with but overall I enjoyed the short set. Lighting bolt was awesome and redemption song made everything worth it (although I could have gone without the Mandela speech in the middle of it).
I hate outdoor shows because the whole time I was there I felt like I could hear a pin drop.
It was great night out with my wife minus the kids and I look for some real shows next year.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

Am I the only one who was kind of bummed out?

I mean I'm glad we got some Pearl Jam.... I was in VIP2 and the sound was kind of rough.... Being nitpiky... I only heard Mike (really loud - not a bad thing!) and Ed's voice. No Stone or Jeff in the mix... You could tell they were all excited and at times Ed was singing over the band instead of letting the song breathe... That said, PJ a little speeded up is still great rock and roll...

I could have done without Beyoncé duet and would have preferred a few more PJ songs... Set had a weird flow...

I guess something is better than nothing....

I can see being bummed out if you were expecting a regular Pearl Jam show experience. It wasn't, but I was fully expecting about an hour greatest hits set and not being able to get up close and my expectations were surpassed. Also, Pearl Jam in Central Park in itself is kind of amazing. And redemption song was incredible!!

  • Show was great and more or less exactly what I expected. Redemption song was beautiful and the highlight of the day. Stone got a great extended solo in Free World an Eddie sounded great all night.

Got in just after Beyonce went on. Didn't go in to see her, just wanted to make sure I was in safe and sound to ensure there was no way I missed PJ. I know that is not my type of music, but her set sucked, not sure how anyone is entertained by that.

The PJ set was exactly what I expected, I knew they would start with something fast, play Imagine somewhere during show and end with RITFW. Thought set would be a bit longer, started at about 9:15 and ended at about 10:18. Highlight of the show for me was Alive, so powerful, love that song. Could have done without Redemption Song, but Ed was much better than Beyonce. Band really looked like they loved being up there, especially Ed. Took him awhile to get off stage at end. For what it was, set was great and band sounded awesome.

I was in VIP3, was pretty surprised at how far back we were , felt like we were a mile from stage, could barely see but had a great view of the screen.

They need to come back next year and do US shows. This band is too good and has too rabid a fan base not to be playing more shows.
  • 1) PJ sounded really tight and I loved the high energy. I loved Alive and Rockin in the Free World was unreal!

    2) Ed Sheeran is a MASTER of the looping station. Talk about a "One Man Band!"

    3) The Chris Martin and Arianna Grande performance of the Harry Styles song was great and seemed very heart-felt.

    4) Common....WOOF! Needed him to get off stage. Thank goodness Sting showed up and tried to polish up what was otherwise a turd performance.

    5) I don't want a picture of Bill Nye dancing with Pearl Jam. I NEED a picture of Bill Nye dancing with Pearl Jam!

All in all, a great night!
  • global citizens was by far the craziest thing ive ever done. we were in the front pen and had a pretty good view of the stage. coldplay opened up the show and they were great, ive definitely gained new respect for them. ariana grande came out and sang just a little bit of your heart and her vocals were incredible. ed sheeran was INCREDIBLE. his vocals were amazing and he really was rocking the guitar. beyonce’s set was insane and kinda nerve wracking bc the whole crowd pushed to the front. michelle obama and malala both gave really good speeches. bill gates, bono, and joe biden also spoke. and last but not least, pearl jam. they were the best. it was my first time seeing pearl jam and my mom took me which was cool. i really wanted to hear do the evolution, so that was good. overall, it was a crazy, tiring, fun experience i will never forget.
