Getting excited? I strangely enough had a dream about the upcoming show in Toronto last night... it was pretty awful though: it was moved to a stadium instead of our lovely intimate Massey Hall. Then a hockey game was going long. And I kid you not, I knew it was a dream because our hockey team would never even get into overtime, they'd have lost within three periods.

Haha, you know you got problems when you dream about concerts, like me! Yup, definitely excited. The setlists have been getting better. I've decided to go see him in Ireland over the summer too, so 4 shows on the horizon for me. Enjoy Toronto!

can't wait to see him in a little less than 2 weeks! has he been touring with a full band or is everything solo acoustic?

Marketa Irglova is opening here...looking forward to her singing with him on a few tunes.

Nice!! Just this one, and he's coming back to Toronto in June for an outdoor show to our beach-like venue :)

Ireland's supposed to be stunning, and obviously that's got to be the best place to see an Irishman, that'll be fantastic!

Gala galactic are opening in Toronto... Not too sure who they are, but I make a point of going to openers these days, if for no other reason than it must be incredibly deflating to play a nearly-empty venue, knowing that you're just there to help an artist kill time.

Excited for the show! Wondering how different he will sound without any band members. I tried looking up the Gala galactic opening band as well, can't find a single thing on them.

I ended up with an extra pair for the Chicago show too, can't believe how many extra tickets there are out there for a sold out show. Put them up here a month ago and can't find anyone who wants them, may just give them away to someone random right before the show or something.

I finally found them! Galagalactic are an experimental Icelandic band. Not to go with the cliche, but they seem to sound a bit like Bjork. http://galagalactic.bandcamp.com

Well, that was absurdly fantastic. The highlight for me, inevitably, was when Damien commented on how large the stage is for one, and suggested twenty or so of us come up on stage to sing along with him for Volcano. My brother and I, and about twenty others or so, obliged, and I belted out literally right next to him on the stage of my favourite venue in the world (Massey Hall). I also got to thank him profusely for the experience on stage, and shake his hand.

My Favourite Faded Fantasy opener without a microphone was gorgeous, as were the two tracks he did with his suitcase accordion (Trusty and True and Long Long Way). His use of loops has grown to be very successful, filling the room with a stunning range of sounds. His timbre is so distinctly different depending on which register he's singing in, that the effect is of many people singing - not one person looping over himself. I couldn't help but think how strangely perfect a Damien Rice/Eddie Vedder tour would be in theatres across NA and Europe.

Overall, just a phenomenal show, and what I loved was how totally different it felt from the last show a few months ago. I'm elated.

He'll sound great wherever you are :)

I hope he treats you to a mic-free track, it's magical when he does that.

No doubt, but we need it to sound good and loud for other purposes too.
