Protecting Vault vinyl sets

Received the Vault 4 set yesterday. I was wondering if someone has a good idea on how to protect them. If someone can point me in the right direction for a good outersleeve or some other way to keep it in good shape. I don't want anything to happen to this and Vault 3. Thanks!

They are to large for a normal sleeve. I put an oversized sleeve made for double lps over the end. It goes up to about the spine, so the spine is left exposed, but that's the best I can do.

Now with the vinyl I clean each one and put them in MOFI inner sleeves and place them in between the pages in the book. I don't put them back in the original hard sleeves. That is the only negative I have about the packaging... is its almost impossible to not have some scuffs from those hard sleeves. I wish they would just package the vinyl separately in poly lined sleeves.

    Great tips, thanks.

Yeah, luckily the pages hold both the original sleeves and a mofi or poly-lined sleeve. I have no complaints about the original sleeves myself, since I almost always leave original sleeves empty and keep the records in a mofi sleeve anyway, assuming the orginal sleeve isn't poly-lined, which is ideal of course, but many albums still don't have that, so I don't complain about it.

I'm not sure where u are from but in Columbus Ohio I found the standard bag at spoonful records is about the perfect size to be a great outer sleeve for my vault 3 vinyl. I'm Sure they are very similar in size. If u need one let me know they work great. Just shoot me a pm

Yeah Brett is great and will always try to help u out. In 2011 I was out of town to see Eds solo tour and missed out on the red rsd mad season. Called Brett and he tracked down a copy for me two weeks later that just so happened to be signed by mr mccready.

Damn, that's awesome. I wish there was a record store like that here (or maybe there.is and I'm just put of the loop).

    That sounds about right...
I wanted to buy 2 copies of Husker Du's / Warehouse: Songs & Stories on Black Friday Record Store Day.
BF Record Store Day was the day before the BIG Rivalry game between Ohio State and Michigan.
One of the records was for me & the other for a fellow forum member, from that State Up North!!
When I walked into Spoonfull I told Brett what I was looking for and he helped me grab the records I wanted.
When we got to the Husker Du album, I asked him if I could buy 2 and told him who the 2nd copy was going to.
He said that he only had 10 copies and told me to come back later that afternoon & see it they had sold out yet.
While I was waiting in line to checkout, he walked up behind me and handed me a second copy of the album and said "Your friend from Michigan should at least get one thing they want this weekend, because it sure won't be a Michigan win...Go Bucks!!!" =)) =))

Looked at Bags Unlimited site, looks like the box set bags would be great. The dimensions are 14x14.5. Sounds good for the vault series but probably too small for the Deluxe box sets. Thanks, for all the feedback. Much appreciated!

.... you could try wrapping them in cellophane for now if you really want it protected from whatever elements you're worried about. That would probably actually work better than any bag you find, even if it does seem like a weird thing to do, lol. And if you do it every time, you could pretend you're opening a brand new album every time you want to spin it, lol. :-D

I personally don't worry about my box sets. They are all way more sturdy and solid than album jackets. I don't think they really need that much protection. I do use outer sleeves for all of my LPs, but those boxes should withstand the test of time on their own, given how well i treat them. I guess I feel the same about the Vaults. It's hardcover, and the records are in mofi sleeves. I doubt I have to worry about them being unprotected.

I used two sleeves designed for double albums/boxsets. Each one only comes up about 80% of the way, but if you put one on each end then its 100% covered. The downside is I store all my vinyl in boxes, and it obvious doesn't fit, so it always sits laying down on top of the boxes.

Luckily I am moving soon and will finally buy a proper record shelf. Boxes are such a PITA.
