I've been picked to do a Wishlist twice. The first time, I got an email in August saying I was chosen, sent my list in, then was told 3 or 4 of the songs I picked weren't in their database (even though I've heard the shows played on PJ Radio before). Submitted a new list, but never heard back.
Then I was a Lightning Bolt prize winner in October or November and Sirius emailed me in December asking to create a Wishlist. I filled it out, followed up a couple of times, but didn't hear anything back.
Last month I got an email saying let's get this recorded sometime during the week between 9am-5pm or on a Sunday. I work during the week so I said Sunday would work best. I was told someone would be in touch on Sunday. Didn't get a call at all on that Sunday. Checked my email later that night and someone from Sirius emailed me around 3pm asking if I could do it at 3:30pm. I emailed back and said sorry I didn’t get the email can we try again next week? Didn't get a response. So I emailed the first guy back and said I’ll be off work on a Friday, can we do it then? He said Sunday worked best and they’ll get back with me with a time. That’s been about two weeks now.
My Wishlist has been an adventure. Not trying to scare you into thinking you’ll never do it, but just sharing my story. Congrats and best of luck to you!
"There's a $10,000 bill in it for you."
"Oh yeah? Which president's on it?"
"Uh, all of them. They're having a party. Jimmy Carter's passed out on the couch."
Mine's been recorded already and the guy said he just had to edit it and get it into the queue of entries waiting to air. He said he'd email me with an air date. I got so pumped up when I got chosen...told all sorts of people and was so excited for it to air.
That was months ago. :(
Bright eyed kid: "Wow Typo Man, you're the best!"
Typo Man: "Thanks kidz, but remembir, stay in skool!"

At least you recorded it. I have a feeling I will never hear back from them again.
What's up with the Wishlists with no one speaking? What the hell is the point of that? They should just knock those ones right out because they are not interesting and defeat the purpose of the show.
My Wishlist was handled by an intern, maybe that's why it wasn't the smoothest transaction. My date to record kept getting messed up, then when I finally did record the show she kept telling me it was going to be on "next week." That went on for about a month before it was finally aired. I think it was about 4 months from the time I was chosen until my segment was finally aired.
I escaped it...a life wasted...I'm never going back again
Sounds like they have people "not in radio" working for their radio station. Properly run radio stations would have this done in about half an hour per person and would be ready to air the next day.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata
I actually got my recorded this week. Maybe posting here was the shot in the arm they needed? Haha. Don't give up hope!
A little nervous about how it turns out. For as much thought as I put into it I feel like I talked too fast.

Congrats! When did they contact you to tell you that you were chosen?
The first time was back in August, then I won the Lightning Bolt sweepstakes and was contacted again in December. I posted my full experience on this thread (it's the first post on page 2 if you want to check it out).
I had to do a lot of following up.

Oh yea I already read that haha. Thanks!
Don't give up and keep following up with them if needed! I wouldn't say I was annoying, but would send an email if I didn't hear back for a few weeks.

I sent a follow up on Friday. I'm persistent so I will keep following up haha.
I told too many people about this to just let it slip away haha.
2 and a half months have passed and I have yet to hear back from Sirius

I thought I had been chosen for a Wishlist as well. The papers were signed, the songs were chosen (with some dickering back and forth as to what versions of what songs were available on Sirius), and then just when I thought we were ready to set up the recording, suddenly nothing! Haven't had any response to a few emails over about three months now. I have personally lost faith, but good luck to you SVRDhand13.

It's been a really frustrating ordeal.
I got picked in December and recorded my episode a few weeks later...and now I can't even get a response from them telling me when it will air. All I want is for them to at least acknowledge me and tell me they are backed up or something...anything. I told a bunch of people about it...I was SO psyched. And now I am hearing episodes on the radio where they don't even play the person's personal stories in between songs. Weak. Totally weak.
Other things that I thought were just lame:
1) One of the songs I asked for, the guy told me it was actually the next night I was looking for and he'd use that date instead. I had to tell him, the guy at PJ radio, that the night he was talking about was an off night on the tour, and I know this because I went to the 2 shows before and after that off night. Seriously: 5/26/06 was not a concert night.
2) 2 of my 5 original picks they did not have. BOTH are officially released shows: 10/4/00 and 7/3/03. I can MAYBE understand not having 10/4/00, but they seriously don't have the 3 Mansfield shows in their system in their entirety? And they *did* have one of my picks...that is only found on an old audience bootleg? C'mon...?
God I'd love to work for PJ radio. All of the mislabeled songs (hmmm, 1/2 Full from 11/6/00? Down from 1995? Thin Air from Bridge School 1996?)...it drives me nuts. And there is NO reason why every single officially released bootleg from 2000-present shouldn't be in their library. That's inexcusable.

I was just thinking yesterday how I could make the station SO much better.
1. Get ALL bootlegs, as you say. 2. Fix labels, as you say. 3. No more Impact Tracks, only covers of those impactful artists. 4. A weekly countdown. People love countdowns! Post something on here, like top show openers, top show closers, best ballads, best punk, etc. The questions are limitless and easy and people will be excited to hear the outcomes. 5. More pre-recorded fan interviews. Not live stuff- it does not come off well. For example, 5 year anniversary of Spectrum shows are coming up, have people record their experiences. Make them short and sweet and they will make the boots even more fun to relive. 6. A recap of live shows in the days following the show, including some stats, like Amsterdam- Evacuation played for the first time since 2009.
There were more that I will probably remember later.
I like the impact tracks, but I just think they play too many of them...and quite often the same song. Mix it up a little.
I think in general the format works pretty well, but I have no problem with the items you listed above. I think they do a great job really digging into the whole catalog. The Rob is clearly enthusiastic about the subject matter still and seems like a real chill guy. But the mislabeled songs, incomplete catalog, obviously under-enthusiastic employees...it could be so much more.
Hey PJ Radio: I'm a database guy (thus I like data to be in order and uniform and I spend loads of time getting it that way EVERY day at my job), music collector (those missing official shows? Yeah, I probably have them and know where to get them if I don't), and I am a PJ nut. Call me.
