i can not, my dear
anymore
i said i would not
but i must
i must away

lifting him in her arms
spinning, spinning
smiles and laughter
floated down
with them to earth
too heavy my dear
i can not carry your pain

chair rocking
she soothes him
your tongue
slapping, flipping..pink
with intention
teeth bared foaming
gentle my dear

in her hand he placed
with snapping jaws
is this True yours?
twisted, turned, carved
unrecognizable to me
but yes beautiful

she smiled at him
with love and understanding
low growls rose
above his lowered head
home you must go
and so i must
i said i would not
but i must
i must away

she turned away
without turning back said
my dear bear
i know their pain
and always feel yours
clinging to what one knows
is good in times of sorrow
please keep an eye to the sky
and an eye to your toes in the sand
one never knows
when the sky will fall
or the earth crumble
under their feet

her bared feet
gently stepped
into melting snow
she walked toward her rock
and the rising sun
are you ready
she said to him
as she leaned against him
his surface smooth, cool
he said
we must away
nothing more to
hold us back
we have waited
for this moment
the time is nigh

she crouched down
placed hands beneath
melting snow
dug her fingers deep
she called silent thunder
it shook the earth violently
ripping a cavern before her feet
she dangled her legs and feet
the smell of moist earth
reaching, stretching legs
toes, feet, legs dig deep into the earth
roots shooting out
from legs, toes, feet
welcomed comfort
the earth closed in
arms reached towards sun
fingers stretched
arms and fingers
branches become
the sun caressed
her rock looked up
never saying
eyes gave away
all he thought
bear off in the distance
growled and clawed
at the earth calling to her
but she could not hear or see
him anymore
she called out one last time
i said i would not
but i must
i must away

i am sorry
