Thanks for the heads up. I was just checking for any new pj news, hoping they will return to Wisconsin sometime soon. At the same time I'm always looking for something new.
You said July Talk is awesome. I checked out their videos, and promptly ordered their 2 cds they have available. Awesome is rite.
They should open for PJ and they will take off like MMJ.
This may sound funny, but to me they almost have a Johnny Cash and June vibe to them, pumped up a few notches.
Cheers, happy new year, & thanks! :D

Not a new band, but one I newly discovered "Moreland and Arbuckle" especially the more traditional earlier albums. And the Graveltones too, stripped down blues.

US Royalty.... Just came out with their second album and for our end of the year banger we threw as seniors in college, we went to the on campus party a few days before and the school hired them since they were local, but we asked if they wanted to play our back yard for a big ass party. They were all in, my roomie had equipment since he was in a band so they came and rocked it for a few hours and took a couple hundred bucks and free beer all day as payment.

Seeing them start to gain popularity over the last few years has been awesome... I need then to come to Philly so I can ask then about the party. But they had just formed at the time, May of 2010, and now they are getting some nice exposure. Pretty cool.

I think I saw US Royalty open up for someone a few years back, (Passion Pit?) at the First Unitarian Church. I remember they lead singer sounded a lot like Bono. I dug them though.

It's funny because I heard Temples last year and loved them. Forgot about then until the recent uproar. They are going to be great.

Same. Someone sent me Shelter Song and then I forgot about them. Album took its sweet time but well worth the wait.

My favorite new band find, definitely, without a doubt, our own JonnyPistachio's Luna Rex. Here's a great tune off their new album, "All Kinds of Terrain" coming out 3/1/14:

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.
