Damnit, Europe. *Plans Updated
I would appreciate advice/input. First trip to Europe. Likely to be my only chance to go for several years.
Coming from NYC
1.Amsterdam (hoping for 2nd show too)
2.Milan
3.Skip Trieste, go hang out with the Pope for a couple days instead.
4.Might have to stop in Florence to buy jewelry. :fp: Really hoping that was a joke though.
5.Berlin
6. Head to the UK, spend a week or so in London and then 3-4 days in Cardiff. DOCTOR WHO!!!!!!!
7. Leeds with an extra day or two before the show for sightseeing.
8. Milton Keynes
9. Praying for dates to be added in Dublin/Belfast and/or Glasgow/Edinburgh. If not, head home from London after MK.
This is my new game plan until they announce more days :-D I've put in for Amsterdam, Milan, Berlin, Leeds, and Milton Keynes. Thoughts?

1) I think that they are trying to reach out to all sides: west, north, east, south (especially Greece, much neglected)
2) Keep in mind that in the past more dates were often added.
Visiting a new land, I think, the main issue is striking a balance between traveling within the continent and spending time to see cities/places. A number of places in Europe provide different atmospheres and you dont wanna be rushing too much so that you can feel the mood of a city.
And I'd also add that the more you avoid air travel within Europe, the better. I think the time spent for air freight is simply time lost. When you do train, car or even bus, you actually see the land and it's still something.
If you're gonna start from AMsterdam, which is definitely a good idea, the time between AMsterdam and Italy show might even provide you chance to stop by Paris. And then Italy.
Planning a trip to Rome will make it actually far down. But certainly, it's gonna worth it.
If you will find yourself having to make a choice between Vienna and Berlin, I'd say you'd better go with Berlin. Sorry, Austrian fellows. :geek:
Visiting Scandinavia or UK further on is a bit of a question of budget, I guess. If you'll be able to afford, certainly, the more the merrier. If not, you'd already have done a quite good continental Europe tour with some major sights and you'll be seeing 3-4 shows, it'll still be a succcess.
2012: Arras, Berlin 1-2
2013: Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires
2014: Milano, Trieste, Vienna, Berlin
2016: NY MSG 1
And I've justified the UK by reasoning that with the premiere of the the new season of Doctor Who expected in August-September with the brand new Doctor being played by Peter Capaldi the Doctor Who Experience is probably gonna have some super duper awesome exhibit that is going to blow my mind. (Yes, this is seriously what I have convinced myself is a good reason to do the UK trip.)

Dr.Who sounds like a good reason. If I ever plan to go to a PJ show in Hawai one day, I think I'll justify that being into Lost.

“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
I actually disagree with the comment to avoid planes. While I do love watching scenic landscape go by on trains, my favourite thing in the world when I get to a new city is to walk around to soak it all in, get lost a little and wander into cafes and restaurants. If I'm not going to have too many days in each city, time spent on a train is just lost time for me. If it's an overnight train I just wake up cranky and disoriented and not ready to explore the next day. So I guess, long way of saying it really depends what you want to get out of your experience!
Some practical advice, having done the city hopping/multiple shows in Europe in 2012:
1) If you fly, fly direct whenever possible
2) DO NOT CHECK LUGGAGE! My luggage was "lost" for half my trip last year because I checked my bag for a direct 1-hour flight between Berlin and Stockholm. That was a fun experience.
3) Don't try and do everything, there's no way that's going to happen so just accept it right now. Pick a few must do's in each city, and then just let everything else play out
4) Try not to travel the day of a show. Things go on strike in Europe all the time not to mention just the regular stuff that can go wrong. If you plan to travel the day before, at least you have some cushion in trying to figure out plan B
5) Pack an extra bag that doesn't take lots of space. You will likely end up with more stuff than you went with.
Will update these plans once I'm back stateside. Can't think about EU tour just yet.

If you are in leeds the day before the show i strongly recommend jumping on a train to the historic city of York. It takes around half an hour. Trust me you will enjoy it and i am sure folks from the uk who have been there before will agree. Here are a few links for things to do and you can find many more on the visit york website.

As for the city of Leeds itself, the city center is very good for shopping, there is a free art museum and a few other things to do but nowhere near the level of york. Here are a few cool shops and places to eat. Hope this helps you
