I would appreciate advice/input. First trip to Europe. Likely to be my only chance to go for several years.

Coming from NYC
1.Amsterdam (hoping for 2nd show too)
2.Milan
3.Skip Trieste, go hang out with the Pope for a couple days instead.
4.Might have to stop in Florence to buy jewelry. :fp: Really hoping that was a joke though.
5.Berlin
6. Head to the UK, spend a week or so in London and then 3-4 days in Cardiff. DOCTOR WHO!!!!!!! :D
7. Leeds with an extra day or two before the show for sightseeing.
8. Milton Keynes
9. Praying for dates to be added in Dublin/Belfast and/or Glasgow/Edinburgh. If not, head home from London after MK.

This is my new game plan until they announce more days :-D I've put in for Amsterdam, Milan, Berlin, Leeds, and Milton Keynes. Thoughts? :)

I have to admit, it seems to zizag a bit...

    1) I think that they are trying to reach out to all sides: west, north, east, south (especially Greece, much neglected)
    2) Keep in mind that in the past more dates were often added.

I really appreciate your commitment. :D

Visiting a new land, I think, the main issue is striking a balance between traveling within the continent and spending time to see cities/places. A number of places in Europe provide different atmospheres and you dont wanna be rushing too much so that you can feel the mood of a city.

And I'd also add that the more you avoid air travel within Europe, the better. I think the time spent for air freight is simply time lost. When you do train, car or even bus, you actually see the land and it's still something.

If you're gonna start from AMsterdam, which is definitely a good idea, the time between AMsterdam and Italy show might even provide you chance to stop by Paris. And then Italy.

Planning a trip to Rome will make it actually far down. But certainly, it's gonna worth it.

If you will find yourself having to make a choice between Vienna and Berlin, I'd say you'd better go with Berlin. Sorry, Austrian fellows. :geek:

Visiting Scandinavia or UK further on is a bit of a question of budget, I guess. If you'll be able to afford, certainly, the more the merrier. If not, you'd already have done a quite good continental Europe tour with some major sights and you'll be seeing 3-4 shows, it'll still be a succcess.
What's your part, who you are?

    2012: Arras, Berlin 1-2
    2013: Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires
    2014: Milano, Trieste, Vienna, Berlin
    2016: NY MSG 1

Thanks for the input. I spent a few hours on Facebook and doing a bit of online research into trains and flights, and I agree 100% with your comment about balance jumbojet. I've entered my drawing for Amsterdam, Milan, Berlin, Leeds, and MK. I will have to meet Scandinavia some other time. I'm hoping a Zurich date gets added between Amsterdam and Milan, but if it does not I will just enjoy spending time between those cities. Definitely going to spend a few days in Rome, but I will probably fly from there to Berlin because a train is going to take way too long. I appreciate that it's a scenic route, but I don't know if I can handle at 12+ hour train ride. Same goes for Amsterdam-Milan. However, I am going to look into 'sleeper' trains because I don't really know enough about those to rule them out as a possibility. I might also pop over to Bruges for a night or two and make a bunch of Colin Farrell jokes while posting pictures on facebook. :D

And I've justified the UK by reasoning that with the premiere of the the new season of Doctor Who expected in August-September with the brand new Doctor being played by Peter Capaldi the Doctor Who Experience is probably gonna have some super duper awesome exhibit that is going to blow my mind. (Yes, this is seriously what I have convinced myself is a good reason to do the UK trip.)

I entered for Milano-Trieste-Vienna-Berlin. Good luck with the draw. 8-)

Dr.Who sounds like a good reason. If I ever plan to go to a PJ show in Hawai one day, I think I'll justify that being into Lost. :D

Leeds is a decent city you could spend a day there and Manchester or Liverpool are both nearby if you'd rather stop in a place with more to see and do. For Milton Keynes you could be in London a few days, if you book trains in advance I've heard they're cheaper.

Stockholm is beautiful, but very expensive. The crowd in GA was awesome. The crowd in Germany was rude and kind if scary. Lots of pushing and shoving...

Updated first post. Skipping the difficult to arrange dates.

I actually really like your list :) You have a good mix of stadium versus arena shows, you get to see a bit of Amsterdam, Milan, Berlin and London, and Leeds possibly sounds like the best venue of the entire tour! However, I'm not actually sure there's much to see in Leeds, just something to keep in mind :D

I actually disagree with the comment to avoid planes. While I do love watching scenic landscape go by on trains, my favourite thing in the world when I get to a new city is to walk around to soak it all in, get lost a little and wander into cafes and restaurants. If I'm not going to have too many days in each city, time spent on a train is just lost time for me. If it's an overnight train I just wake up cranky and disoriented and not ready to explore the next day. So I guess, long way of saying it really depends what you want to get out of your experience!

Some practical advice, having done the city hopping/multiple shows in Europe in 2012:
    1) If you fly, fly direct whenever possible
    2) DO NOT CHECK LUGGAGE! My luggage was "lost" for half my trip last year because I checked my bag for a direct 1-hour flight between Berlin and Stockholm. That was a fun experience.
    3) Don't try and do everything, there's no way that's going to happen so just accept it right now. Pick a few must do's in each city, and then just let everything else play out
    4) Try not to travel the day of a show. Things go on strike in Europe all the time not to mention just the regular stuff that can go wrong. If you plan to travel the day before, at least you have some cushion in trying to figure out plan B
    5) Pack an extra bag that doesn't take lots of space. You will likely end up with more stuff than you went with.

My plans have changed a little bit around the UK since I'm actually going to be meeting a friend there for about a week off sightseeing. I think I'm going to arrive in Leeds day before show (because I agree, don't wanna travel on show days) and head to MK day before that show. I know it's not really a tourist destination but I want to be there in case they add a second show.
Will update these plans once I'm back stateside. Can't think about EU tour just yet.

    Hi
If you are in leeds the day before the show i strongly recommend jumping on a train to the historic city of York. It takes around half an hour. Trust me you will enjoy it and i am sure folks from the uk who have been there before will agree. Here are a few links for things to do and you can find many more on the visit york website.

As for the city of Leeds itself, the city center is very good for shopping, there is a free art museum and a few other things to do but nowhere near the level of york. Here are a few cool shops and places to eat. Hope this helps you :)

3-4 days is way too much for Cardiff imo, unless you have friends there or are planning to take some trips outside of the city. I lived there for a few years, I'd recommend 2 days max? One day for the city centre, the other for the bay + doctor who.

If you're travelling to Cardiff from London then Bath would make a nice overnight stop along the way.

yep, Bath is lovely. Bristol is quite nice too but it doesn't have as many historical/cultural attractions if the OP is interested in that.

Apparently there is a castle in Cardiff? I just wanna do doctor who. But it's not entirely up to me that part.
