Meet Rush Limbaugh, children's book author
'Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims' is an attempt to correct the 'mistaught' history of early America.
By Jonathan Berr

Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh is planning to write a children's book as he seeks to introduce a new generation to the virtues of limited government and free markets.

"Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims: Time-Travel Adventures with Exceptional Americans" tells the story of Rush Revere, a "fearless middle school history teacher, who transports himself back in time" to the first Thanksgiving. According to the Daily Caller, the 62-year-old broadcaster was inspired to write his first book since 1993 by his wife, Kathryn.

"She said, 'You know you're always talking about how history is being mistaught. ... They're not learning about the founding days. They're not learning the right things about the great people, the exceptional people in this country," the conservative website quotes him as saying.

For parents who want their children to become "dittoheads," the book is available now for orders on Amazon (AMZN +1.07%) ahead of its Oct. 29 release. Given Limbaugh's huge popularity, "Rush Revere" should sell well.

Limbaugh has shared his spin on the story of the fabled meeting between Pilgrims and Native Americans with his radio audience of about 14 million weekly listeners for years. As Dylan Byers noted in Politico, the moral of last year's version was vintage Limbaugh: "The true story of Thanksgiving is how socialism failed. With all the great expectations and high hopes, it failed. And self-reliance, rugged individualism, free enterprise, whatever you call it, resulted in prosperity that they never dreamed of."

Dr. Suess he isn't.

Believe it or not, many of Limbaugh's fellow conservative have also tried their hand at writing for kids. Glenn Beck issued "The Christmas Sweater:A Picture Book" in 2009. Fox News' Bill O'Reilly has written four books for those he has dubbed "junior fans" of his "O'Reilly Factor" show, including "Kids are Americans Too." Callista Gingrich, the wife of former House Speaker turned CNN "Crossfire" co-host Newt Gingrich, has written two books for budding young conservatives detailing the adventures of Ellis the Elephant.

Limbaugh certainly doesn't need the money from the book. According to Forbes, the top-rated talk show host in the country pulls in about $66 million annually.

rush being worth $66,000,000.00 annually as a talk show host is insanity. rush writing kids books is certainly laughable as i thought rush was just born a grown ass man. and i use the word, "man" very loosely. figured rush was also just rush, a large turd of a guy

can you imagine baby rush limbaugh? holy frickin shit, ladies & gentlemen

people who dislike howard stern with the passion are some of his most faithful listeners; the same must apply to this here. i most definetly wouldn't purchase one but i would look for a copy at my local library. i personally would not give rush limbaugh $0.13

The story of Thanksgiving is that months before the Wampanoag Indians and the Pilgrims formed an alliance that benefited both sides (the recently disease-devasted Wampanoag needed allies to fight the Narragansett, and they feared the Pilgrims.) The Pilgrims were able to have powerful allies and had access to much land that was free due to the local Indians not being able to use the land for food since most of the region died from disease. Because of the available land, as well as learning to grow corn and catching certain animals, were able to have a great harvest and the abundance of food was shared with about around 90 Indians, including Chief Massassoit and Squanto (and Squanto had a secret plan to climb up the social ladder and kill off the Pilgrims if necessary).

How Rush came to the conclusion it was a result of failed socialism is beyond me.

Speaking of this, the journal of William Bradford is a great read.

Oh boy! I might have to get one to put with my Glenn Beck and Ann Coulter collections. Add a signed Palin and I'm the happiest book collector in town. :P

Most likely Rush did not exxactly write the book, but teamed up with a good writer to put a good conservative spin on American History. Since the far right can't get the school boards to approve textbooks that they would like to also re-write with their own spin, I guess they are trying another way to indoctrinate the young ones

I guess you can afford a TARDIS when you make that much. We should have let him buy the Rams instead. :?
