I'm reading Duff McKagan's book, and he mentions jamming with Pearl Jam at some point -

"I got up and played drums with Pearl Jam the first time they came to L.A. for a show at the Cathouse; there was a lot of alcohol consumed that night, but I think we played a song by the Dead Boys together."

I'm guessing that it was Sonic Reducer, but there is no setlist for the first time they played the Cathouse back in '91 ( http://pearljam.com/setlists/1006/1991/19764/cat_house ) and they are credited as Mookie Blaylock.

This is the second and final (??) time they play the Cathouse http://pearljam.com/setlists/1006/1991/ ... s_cathouse but still no Sonic Reducer...

Does anyone have any more info on these gigs? Cheers!!

As much as I Like Duff, the former GnR members are all full of shit.
They lie and the book is full of contradictions. Vodka by the gallon and blow will do that I guess.

The book was pretty decent... Yes, drugs and alcohol does do that, but then would that not affect 99% of the musicians I listen to? Are they all full of shit???

Anyway, I wanted to concentrate on the Pearl Jam gig more than on Duff.
But to justify your post, I must admit that the possibility of this jam never taking place did cross my mind.
That's why I posted the question in the first place.

Totally wouldn't have put it past Duff to be at the Cathouse gig. He goes way back with guys from the band, being that he is from Seattle, and played in lots of bands in the area before heading down to LA to join GNR.

GNR was not on tour at this time.... They had just played the first couple shows of the Illusion era in Brazil, but the album and real tour were still months away.

If they jammed on a Dead Boys songs (Sonic Reducer???) it was probably at soundcheck and not at the show.

Not sure if they were buddies at the time, but Mike had gone to the Welcome to the Jungle video taping back when he was in LA with Shadow. Can't remember what interview Mike mentioned it. Also not sure how it ties in with Duff jamming with PJ back in 91, but I always thought it was cool.

There's no audience audio recording of it as well. http://db.etree.org/lookup_show.php?shows_key=45073
