Has anyone here climbed Mount Rainier?

If so, how difficult is it? Can someone who is in very good shape with some hiking experience but nothing like Rainier make it with an experienced guide?

There's a pretty easy hiking trail that goes around it. There's a lodge up there.

One thing we learned years ago was that there could still be a lot of snow as late as 4th of July weekend. :?

Thanks, my family is thinking about making a summit climb to benefit a charity and was just curious about the difficulty of the climb. The trip is the last week of July so hopefully the weather will be better. Thanks for the info though.

never climbed it but went to the national park two years ago. me and three other people I think we entered the park through the Nisqually gate and went to a town within the park called Paradise. Even if you don't climb or attempt it, just taking the trip is totally worth it.

Yes. I have faith in you. My husband and I were there last summer. We didn't go to the top but we did do the Wilderness Trail (around it) and we are thinking of going back in the near future to do a summit. It would be our first 14K mountain, considering we live in the east we don't have much opportunity.

It can be the hardest climb in the world or you could make it with a day pack in a pair of shorts. Depends on your luck with the weather. Better to be over prepaired.

Thanks for the info all. Think we are getting pretty close to making the decision to do it. Looking at some of the Dissapointment Cleaver pictures online made us a bit nervous but after talking to some people who have done it, I think we can do it.

Been running twice a day for about a week now. Have just over 90 days to prepare.

Thanks. I think we can too, just got a little nervous for a while. My mom is down in North Carolina now so I think we might do Mount Mitchell to prepare, although it will be nothing like Rainier. Ever been? Don't think it is too far from Tenn?
