its actually much better and catchier than light years isnt it? ive said many times that if they kept that version and put some of the bsides on it would have been a better record

That version doesn't even belong in the same universe as the Binaural version... IMO.

I like the dynamics they added on the official release much better.

Is that Matt on the drums? it doesn't seem like it (maybe Ed????).

The demo reminds me a lot of Tom Petty songs at the beginning and then kinda kicks into something more like Given to Fly which is why I remember reading somewhere that it got flipped around. Ed thought it sounded too much like GTF and so they took the instrumentation and reorganized it. I like the demo better by the way. I wish there was a way to bring up Ed's vocals.

Okay so I'm unearthing a very old thread here but I discovered the Light Years Demo recently and I'm obsessed with it and I just had to find out if anyone else feels the same lol...

Personally, I think it's so different from the recorded version that it doesn't make sense to like one over the other.. They're both great songs in my opinion. I agree with whoever said it would be nice if the vocals were louder but there exists a perfect solution to that problem - PLAY THE DEMO VERSION LIVE!!! Not too much to ask, is it? Lol

Anyway, I think it's a fucking awesome tune!!

    That is all.
