Inside Backspacer it says: Jeff Ament- p bass. What does the p mean?

    That's interesting. Hasn't Jeff historically used Jazz basses most of the time?

    I'm glad I'm not the only one that was baffled by this; I don't remember seeing that on any other album.

    Not sure about most of the time, but he does like Modulus jazz bases:

    Jeff uses all kinds of basses and bass amps. he's a bassist's bassist. strange to see the implication that he used only one kind on this record. i'll keep my ear to the streets for an explanation to this one.

    Just saw that (I receivd my cd yesterday).
    Strange to see that he plays only P bass on taht album, as he rarely does. I realised he palyed on a p bass when they played "got some" on Conan and I thought he sounded great. I love his sound on the album and I loved his sound on this tour.
