How many more albums will Pearl Jam release?

After Backspacer, my guess is that they'll only do 2-3 more records. As much as I'd enjoy always hearing new Pearl Jam material I can't see them making records well into their fifties. Then again, you never know, they could become a modern-day Rolling Stones!

What do you guys think?

I could see PJ slowing down or taking 3 or 4 years off from making a new album/touring but I don't think they'll ever officially retire.

I guess we'll have to wait and see..
'I want to hurry home to you
put on a slow, dumb show for you
    and crack you up
so you can put a blue ribbon on my brain
    god I'm very, very frightening
    and I'll overdo it'

I dont know, maybe its the radiohead fanboy speaking, but I tend to think albums are dead. At least in terms of what they used to be and mean.

I think more and more bands are going to be trying to figure out how to sell music and distribute it. You see it happening already. Billy Corgan has talked often about how he believes releasing single songs is the wave of the future. Trent Reznor has some interesting views on what should be done. And Radiohead did the whole "pay what you want" thing.

Its hard to speculate how many albums pearl jam will release before they disband because of what I just outlined. The music industry that pearl Jam came up on in 1991, is scarcely recognizeable in 2009.
