***NEW LINK***

Someone just posted this link on audioslaved.com thought people here would like to hear it. It's a radio rip so quality aint perfect but it still sounds really good, and to those who reckon he's lost his voice, check out the note he holds at the end of the bridge - damn good!

ahaha, beat me to it, I was about to start the same thread.

His voice sounds great, but I'm not sure how I feel about this song yet, it's very different from everything he's ever done. I Need to listen to it a couple of more times...
“Life is life everywhere. Life is in ourselves and not outside us. There will be men beside me, and the important thing is to be a man among men and to remain a man always, whatever the misfortunes, not to despair and not to fall - that is the aim of life, that is its purpose.”

Yeah first listen I was a bit taken back cause I wasn't expecting it to be so heavy (I was imagining something more Euphoria Morning esque) but I've listened to it a few times in a row now and it's really growing on me. That belting note he holds at the 3 minute mark is fucking awesome!
  • i really like it. If there are a few high energy songs like this on the album it'll be a good thing. Euphoria Morning is great....but there is really only one mood on it. thus i can't listen to it on a regular basis.........

It sounded pretty good. The vocals reminded me of You Know My Name a little bit.

Good stuff. The new album should be pretty interesting.

Yeah, that note is incredible! I'm quite shocked about the song though, I didn't expect anything like this. I don't think I like it

Give it a chance. It would help if we could hear a cleaned up version of it, a lot of the subtle guitar work isn't as audible because the quality aint so good. Probably his best vocal performance since Euphoria Morning era stuff.

Damn, that song is amazing. Catchy and in your face. Lyrics are a bit strange though.

the part where he sings "then I tried to be invisible, it was impossible" made me cringe...

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the lyrics atm. But when he sings them this great, I'm not complaining!

Cornell is one of the best rock singers ever. Everything he does is great. Yes even Audioslave.

Here's a stab at some lyrics...

"I saw the world, it was beautiful
but the rain got in and ruined it all
Then I tried to be invisible, it was impossible, even for me
After (something?) it was a big mistake, in the absence of, I filled it with hate (?)

'Cos there's no such thing as nothing
Yeah there's no such thing as nothing at all

    (don't know about this line)
But the rain got in and I fought too hard"

    ...and then I got bored.

Takes a while to grow on you, and like I said before a lot of the sound is kind of burried cause of the quality.

P.s cheers for the PJ dvd mr Brisk!

Yeah I know, I suppose lyrics don't really have much importance to a song.

This is so damn exciting! :D
Thanks for the heads up everyone!

I’ve been listening to it non-stop. Definitely agree that it grows on you.

I also agree though that these are NOT the greatest lyrics on the Cornell block. Eeek. The man has always been an phenomenal lyricist imo. One of my fav quotes from him actually..."I'm not a lyric writer to make statements. What I enjoy doing is making paintings with lyrics, creating colorful images." <~~That IS SO Euphoria Morning right there!!! I know this is the only song we’ve heard so far but that “colorful magic” is definitely not present in these lyrics. It doesn’t effect me enjoying the song but yeah...not the greatest ones from the mighty man.

With that said I am loving the heavier side of solo CC! I actually wasn’t too surprised by the sound. It sounds like a mixture of a lot of things he’s done before...all mixed up into something new. Well to me anyway. I’m loving it.
Very rockin intro. Catchy... just grabs you from the start. Anyone else hear a little Sex Type Thing going on in there too? :p

UM and HOLY GOD!!!!!! YES! That AMAZING ASS elevating note at the 3 minute mark?!?! It literally pulls the breath outta my lungs as it rises. My god! Still got it AND THEN SOME!!! The man leaves me in complete shock and awe! He’s pure gold!

I can’t wait to hear the rest!!!! :D
Easily the most anticipated release of the year as far as I’m concerned.
    AHHH and the tour?!

That was the first thing I thought of when I heard it! Also a bit like the main riff in Velvet Revolver's Slither.

Yeah without that note it might not have hit me quite so much, I was shocked he can still pull off that sort of stuff. I remember in an interview a while back he said the reason he didn't do the high end wailing so much in Audioslave was because it didn't fit the music so well, and he didn't want it to just sound like Soundgarden over the top of RATM's music. I thought he was kind of covering up for the fact he couldn't sing like that anymore, but on the strength of this I kind of believe the guy.
