Any other albums similar to The Crane Wife (Decemberists)

I'm looking for some other songs similar to Sons and Daughters, etc. Kind of folksy, rock songs, if you know what I mean. Any suggestions?

    You've not mentioned it in your post, so i'll ask if you are aware 'The Crane Wife' is the Decemberists 4th album? The first 2 album are more folkier in general than the later 2.

    Aside from that i'd recommend The Sleepy Jacksons debut album 'Lovers' which while prehaps not 'folky' as such does incorporate a country style into it's sublime pop/rock music. The follow album 'Personally' isn't anywhere near as good, but you really should give 'Lovers' a try.

    "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel.

    I find similarities and others have told me the same after I suggested it.

    Cursive's 'the ugly organ' and 'happy hollow' also have a similar sound.

    You might want to check out Iron and Wine's "Woman King" EP and Sufjan Stevens' "Illinois" album, and of course the Decemberists' earlier albums.
