I know there is a lot of talk about Wilco--who aren't too shabby themselves--but are there any Son Volt fans on this board. I got their newest album and can't get enough of them. Just wondering what the feeling--if any--was on this board was about this band. If you haven't heard of them and like Wilco you should probably check them out...and Uncle Tupelo, too, for that matter.
What?!? No, We can't stop here, this is bat country.

This thread is long overdue. Son Volt are fucking great. I think that Jay is just as good a songwriter as Jeff, they have just taken different directions. I love Son Volt and Wilco, but nothing beats hearing the two masters together in Uncle Tupelo. But that's straying, anyway...Okemah and the Melody of Riot is a welcome return from Jay, the king of Alt-country. I haven't heard his solo albums, so I can't comment on those.
Anyways...long story short...Son Volt rocks!Please don't smoke in smoke free buildings. You aren't cool, you're just an asshole0 -

I still like trace better, but okemah has some great songs.
