Any Dave Matthews Band fans here?? Have any of you gone to see Dave at the Gorge before?? How does it compare to PJ? I wanted to go this year but since Pearl Jam is going I will only have enough time for Pearl Jam. Since DMB plays the Gorge every year, I might go next year if I'm lucky.

While I have never seen DMB at the Gorge I am a big fan. Have been to 3+ shows every year since like 98. I am going to Irvine, Chula Vista and Hollywood this year0

Sweet. I tried to get tix for Hollywood Bowl but I was trying to get tix for Pearl Jam the same time and hour they went on sale. I didn't get any DMB but I did get the pj tix. I'm glad DMB decided not to play the Home Depot Center this year. I remember last year when he did Loveline, he said he was surprised that they hadn't sold out at Home Depot. I gotta get tix for the Hollywood Bowl.If You Give, You Begin To Live

They debuted a new song last night in the 'burgh and it's not bad. Check it out if you're into them.

Assuming the producer (who did Stand Up) doesn't fuck this song up like all the songs on Stand Up it is an easy radio hit for sure...the chorus just SOARS0 -
From what I've seen, their setlists this tour have been incredible. I tend to think bands have better setlists when they aren't out promoting anything in particular, and this tour doesn't appear to be an exception.
I mean, they had the Dreaming Tree and Bartender in one show. IN ONE SHOW! As far as this fan is concerned, that's a musical DMB orgasm right there.0 -
Hope we get a kick ass set tomorrow!!!!0

I love DMB, one of my favorite bands. Stand Up was utter shit, but Before These Crowded Streets, Under The Table & Dreaming, Crash, Remember Two Things are pure amazing, and Busted Stuff wasn't great, but the songs are great live (JTR, Raven, Bartender).
I also like how he finally realized his older stuff rocks, I mean look at the set list from Pitt on Friday & Saturday.

stand up was deffinatly a different sound, but i really got into after some time. i saw them in december 05 and they played a lot of songs from it and they sounded soooooo awesome, my seats were behind the stage and i could see all of the crowd and everyone was dancing to the beats. not much of anything i like has beats like that and to hear it live coming from the percussionist and not some beat box was way-way- cool.0

I saw the Friday show in Pittsburgh, my 14th DMB show overall. They are always great live. I thought all the new songs sounded really good in concert. I hope they see the light of day on an album. Sometimes they play songs live on a tour and they vanish forever.
I think "Joy Ride," "JTR," and "Sugar Will" are three of their best songs, but they haven't been officially released on studio recordings. I really like guest guitarist Santana jamming on "Sugar Will" on the 2004 San Francisco cd.
Not as great as Pearl Jam, but Dave is awesome.I love my female wife...

i don't know if I think his oldest stuff is his best, though. I've been a Dave Matthews fan for a while now and I think that Busted Stuff is their best album. "Grey Street," "Where Are You Going," "You Never Know," "Captain," "Raven," "Grace is Gone," "Big Eyed-Fish," and "Bartender" all on one cd. That is the one I listen to the most.
I don't think Stand Up is bad, but it is my least favorite. I like "Dreamgirl" and "American Baby" a lot. I think "Louisiana Bayou" totally kicks live, and I would have to say that "Old Dirt Hill" ranks as one of my all time favorite DMB songs. I just think there are a few songs on it that aren't memorable. It is hard to try to do a political album when you have built a career on the good time, more upbeat sounds that they have (yes, I do know how dark some of their stuff is).I love my female wife...

Ugh.
If there ever was a song that went nowhere, this one is it, and its even worse live where it takes 8+ minutes to get there.0 -
I gotta say this tour is MUCH better than last year. And no more Old Dirt Hill or Dreamgirl!0

Just saw DMB last night in TO....great show, I still luv them
And "Old Dirt Hill" isn't THAT bad...Dreamgirl on the other hand..
Yah the new songs have been great! At first I wasn't thrilled with Sister but after hearing it live ...I really liked it.0 -

Thew new songs are growing on me. I hate Stand Up (For It), Old Dirt Hill, & Dream Girl, and American Baby is alright. However, Smooth Rider, Lousiana Bayou, Hunger for the Great Light, & Hello Again are actually pretty good, and are really, really good leave. They're nothing like his old stuff, but still. I was listening to him today, and realized how good they really are. I mean, just listen to how creative and well constructed songs like Warehouse, Pig, Two Step, & Lie In Our Graves are. And So Much To Say > Too Much is just soooo much fun to jam out to.Pittsburgh 6/23/06

The 12+ minute Dream Girls beat it. To each his own, and I sorry if I offended anyone, but I think most of Stand Up is crap, especially when they draw it out and attempt to jam an already boring song out live. This tour is kicking ass though. I missed Pittsburgh, because I couldn't get off work. I was so upset I could still kick myself. Hopefully PJ next week will make up for it...but still.Pittsburgh 6/23/06

recently rediscovered dmb--forgot how much I enjoyed his sense of urgency in certain songs.http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk103/Moonturltemoon/PJ MSG 6-24-08/
