I would get every single Afghan Whigs CD before any Twilight Singers however if you must...
Powder Burns is a great CD and IMO their best by far.0 -
The thing about the Twilight Singers is that they've gotten better with each record. Powder Burns is a great place to start...if you like what you hear, hit me up for a trade: http://www.newjeruzoo.com/twilight<a href="http://www.shawnsmithsinger.com">Shawn Smith</a> / <a href="http://www.thebandbrad.com">Brad</a> / <a href="http://www.allhailthecrown.com">All Hail the Crown</a> / <a href="http://www.satchelpartnership.com">Satchel</a>

One of my buddies got me into Dulli a year or so ago and I haven't look back...great stuff.
You can't go wrong with Powder Burns or Blackberry Belle.0 -
I would start with Blackberry Belle. I just got into them about 6 months ago, and that record has been a constant for me ever since I got it. Powder Burns is fantastic as well. The Man has a branch office in each of our brains, his corporate emblem is a white albatross, each local rep has a cover known as the Ego, and their mission in this world is Bad Shit.0

Belle is a great place to start, as is the new one. . . and if you like the new one check out Black Love and 1965 by Afghan Whigs and then work your way back.
It's all really great stuff!
edit: 1969 - sorry! Put on your rose fur coat baby 'cause its 1973. . .0 -

Just to add...1969 is both incredible AND accessible to newcomers. Fantastic.<a href="http://www.shawnsmithsinger.com">Shawn Smith</a> / <a href="http://www.thebandbrad.com">Brad</a> / <a href="http://www.allhailthecrown.com">All Hail the Crown</a> / <a href="http://www.satchelpartnership.com">Satchel</a>

If you like Powder Burns, be sure to check out Black Love by the Afghan Whigs - an incredible album from start to finish.0

The Whig's album is 1965, not 1969. Just so we don't have somebody looking for a CD that doesn't exist.0
-
I love Dulli, Afghan Whigs and twilight singers, but I would start with Blackberry belle, uinless youve never heard any dulli, poor deprived creature, in which case, go with Gentlemen or Black Love.
Seen em live twice, excellent band.
cant wait for gutter twins, the lanegan-dulli collaboration0 -

LOL! I can't believe I typed 1969. Embarrassing. Sorry about that people.<a href="http://www.shawnsmithsinger.com">Shawn Smith</a> / <a href="http://www.thebandbrad.com">Brad</a> / <a href="http://www.allhailthecrown.com">All Hail the Crown</a> / <a href="http://www.satchelpartnership.com">Satchel</a>

Powder burns is a great album and so is the 'stitch in time' EP with Mark Lanegan. Go get both. I saw Twilight singers in November with Mark Lanegan and they were Awsome.Dublin 2006
Katowice 2007
London 20070 -
"The Killer" off Blackberry Belle is one of the greatest songs ever."What’s Orphans? I don’t know. Orphans is a dead end kid driving a coffin with big tires across the Ohio River wearing welding goggles and a wife beater with a lit firecracker in his ear." - Tom Waits0

"The Killer" and "Number Nine" by themselves would pretty much make that record. But the rest of it is pretty damn good as well. The Man has a branch office in each of our brains, his corporate emblem is a white albatross, each local rep has a cover known as the Ego, and their mission in this world is Bad Shit.0 -
Teenage Wristband is probably one of my favourite songs ever...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nm-6JYu-XoSmokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.0 -
i love em all, + the whigs!!!! + the gutter twins ;]lay down all thoughts; surrender to the void

gotta give some black love lovin' to this thread, i miss the whigs something awful
i've only got two of the twilight albums but i keep finding all these small weird cd's.
sooner or later, i'll pick em all up.
saw the whigs twice, and singers back in like '01 or something. i'll never forget dulli just pointing to this girl in the audience, and saying "Backstage, Honey. And don't bring your boyfriend." Funniest shit ever.0 -
