Fender Telecaster before he went on to a Les Paul? Did Page ever play Strats?

    I think the first 2 albums (and the Stairway solo!) are teles!

    Only the first album I think, I'm sure he had switched to les pauls for Led Zeppelin II. You are absolutely correct about the Stairway solo. I was very surprised when I first read about that.

    I actually own one of those amps and recorded with it a few times....one of my most prized possessions!
    There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.

    that gibson SG double neck was invented just so he could play both parts of stairway live.

    early stuff was definitely tele, alot of the fingerpicking stuff was done on danelectro guitars and the rest was mostly LPs. Not sure about strats, but i don't think he really used them.

    The Gibson EDS-1275 was around a good twelve or thirteen years before Stairway. The first models were in 1958. The first solid body versions came along in 1962. Pete Townshend was using one onstage in 1967-8:

    I agree with Fins on this one.
    Led Zeppelin IV was released on November 8, 1971.
    The first EDS-1275 was put into production in 1958.
    The EDS-1275 adopted the SG body style in 1962.
