WOW I just watched a live performance of River of Deceit and it just gives me chills everytime I hear that song. Absolutely brilliance!
I agree with Mikes clean tone. It is awesome. I love his tone.

I saw Alice in Chains play last November and Jerry was basically flawless throughout. I was quite impressed... with the whole band actually.
    Stone Gossard...riffmeister extraordinaire!

I am a man, I am advanced.....I am the first man to borrow Stone's leather pants!

I think his clean tone on the album is better than the live show at the Moore.
Is it me or is Mike dragging a little bit in the beginning.

Call me old-fashioned but what relevance does this have to this thread?

    Oh, and Cantrell is awesome.

I disagree about the unplugged show being
'one of the best shows in history' (that's kind of naive)

The quote was...one of the three or four best in the show's history.

And, in that regard, I think the original poster was certainly correct. Or, at the very least, it's certainly one of my three or four favorite MTV Unplugged performances--ahead of Pearl Jam's for sure.

    Semantics . . . it was paraphrased.
"well.. imho alice in chains unplugged is one of the three or four best in the show's history"
    ...... .... ..... .. ...... ......... .. "one of the ..... .. .... best shows in history"
No difference - and I (just like you) have the right to disagree - Chill Out.

Was pretty sure the difference was that "one of the best in the show's history" indicated that it was the best performance on that program...whereas the claim "one of the best shows in history" would encompass every live musical performance ever.

Seemed the original poster was implying the former while you were implying the latter--which would be two very different things.

As well, didn't mean for that to sound hostile, just clearing up what seems to be a misunderstanding. No offense meant.

Yes, "shows" referring to MTV Unplugged . . . as I said, it's semantics.
Personally, I think the Eric Clapton unplugged was probably the best (and I don't even like Clapton).

id be hard pressed to choose between nirvana and alice in chains as the best unplugged performance

pearl jam could have been up there but their setlist wasn't up to scratch. should have ditched songs like evenflow and jeremy and put on songs like footsteps, wash, release. black porch and oceans were absolutely spectacular though
