Someone at work is looking to sell a Fender Statocaster Floyd Rose Deluxe Series. Says it's about 6 years old and it's in very good condition. Can anyone tell me what i might want to offer for something like this. I'm looking to pick up a guitar again but not sure what to pay for something used.
Thanks for any help.

Depends on the Floyd Rose - there are two kinds that Fender used.
One type is the floating kind with all the fine tuners and a nut clamp (a real pain in the ass, generally a shredders type bridge).
Looks similar to this: http://www.floydrose.com/images/bridges/original.jpg or this: http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/3/9/4/332394.jpg
The other locks the string in the top, but looks more like their traditional 2-post bridge).
Looks like this: http://www.fender.com/products/prod_images/accessories/1996510100_xl.jpg or this http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=1996510100
You'll need to find out what the exact model is, where it was made (USA, MEX, JAP, it makes a difference),
the kind of pickups it has, and what year it was made (the serial number should be able to tell you that).
I can give you current blue book (EXC.COND) value, but without that info there's no way to price it.
Only 6-years old rules out the Deluxe Plus (1987-1998), Three Lace Sensor pickups, LSR roller nut, and Fender Floyd Rose ($1100).
Regular American Deluxe and Deluxe Fat Strats (no Floyd Rose) are worth anywhere between $800-$1100.
Floyd Rose Classic Strats were made from 92-97, so those are out.

Get the serial number off the headstock. You'll be able to tell alot about the guitar, and get a better idea of how much it might be worth.
I have an 85 with a FR trem.....it's a little different than any I've seen....

Made in MEXICO, typically means not worth to much.
Brand new MEX strats sell for around $400.
Brand new MEX Floyd Rose Strats sell for $500 (just like the PIC I posted earlier).
click here: Made in Mexico FENDER Floyd Rose Stratocaster
Here's a closer PIC: Made in Mexico FENDER Floyd Rose Stratocaster
If it's in good shape offer him $250 and he'll be making out fair.
Cheers . . .
