electronic tuner

As a poor public servant trying to learn the guitar I bought a " Matrix SR-1050 fully automatic chromatic tuner". On the front of the tuner it has a "auto calibration button". On the back of the box it says, "To match the pitch of any reference instrument, simply push the AUTO CALIBRATION button while playing a note on that instrument. The tuning pitch will be shifted to match.

Q1. Do I have to do this to match the pitch of the acoustic guitar I am learning on, or do I just leave the electronic tuner as is and tune my guitar.

any help would be gratful.

    Definnitly leave it alone. The correct reference pitch is A= 440 Hz. Re-calibrating would only be useful if you wanted to exactly match another out of tune instrument which is not easily changed, like a piano etc.
    You want to tune your guitar to 440.
    It should actually be a flogging offence to sell guitar without a tuner.
    Music is not a competetion.

    Thanks for the advice. I bought a student Yamaha guitar, it came with a "guitar sam bong pitch pipe". I tried to tune the giutar to the pipe but I dont have enough experience yet because when I got the electronic, whooo was she out.
