Hi guys ,
I just selled my two guitars ( washburn x10 and an epi firebird ) because I was offered an awesome price for them. I was already saving for a new guitar so the money was welcome ...
But now atm I am guitarless ...
So it was kinda stupid of me , shouldve maybe waited but yeah .
I want a really good guitar now but dont know what , tested strats and teles over the years but I dont know what I want , so now I just want to copy Eddie his telecaster with the soapbar.
I just wanna know if it will sound good ? will it be versatile ? And what items do I need ...
I would maybe go for a higher end mexican , classic 60s tele ? But which soapbar ? And how do I assemble it ...
Thanks in advance guys
PS : been a long time since I was here on the board , so how are you guys doin ?
Cheers

you should get this!

Fender JA-90
I don't see the price but I know it wasn't crazy. 700 something I think.0 -
Thanks for the link but that is not really the thing I was looking for...
And the tele bridge PU is "twangy" , I quite like that for some bluesy rock riffs and then the soapbar for clean & crunch ?
I dont know , is it smart to do this with my money ?0 -
Hey, I've seen ya on here a bit. Try a P-90 PU if you get a tele. I got a squiet tele and it's awesome. I actually JUST put a Mexican strat pu in the neck position. That Mexican PU I put in sounds good when doing some blues and having a subtle overdrive. Try out things, if you can, before buying. I can't stress it enough (although my many many many purchases through ebay have been VERY good).Grand Rapids '04, Detroit '06
JEFF HARDY AND JEFF AMENT USED TO LOOK THE SAME

I was real interested in the Fender TC-90 for a while (set neck, thinline,
P-90's, stop-tail). Killer guitar, makes me wanna get one all over again.

Now they make a JA-90 which is kind of similar, but more tele-shaped.

Thanks guys !
Which P90 should I get btw to still get a versatile sounding guitar ...
And is the wiring with standard PU's or with a Soapbar in the neck of the tele still the same ?
neck / neck & bridge / bridge ( tele comes with 3 way switch i think)
Oh and I tried some guitars already but now I'm just looking on ebay to score a 2ndhand black telecaster to modify it then so I can play again
Ow sorry , another question ... If I route in the telecaster more spacing for the P90 and ofcourse in the pickguard to... Can I then later put a single coil in it again with a normal pickguard ? Or will the "big" amount of space shake the pickup in several ways ? Or is the pickguard good enough to hold the pickup steady ?
Thanks

P90s mount slightly differently in that they screw into the body and aren't really attached to the pickguard. however, neck pickups in old teles were done the same way so it should be possible with the right foam/support under the pickup and the right screws.
neither pickguard will have holes for mounting the pickup.
the wiring will be the same.
as for which P90, seymour duncan has lots of choices, read their descriptions and see what appeals to you.

there are many other makers of P90s but for a project like this, i'd just start with a duncan.0 -
I put a pair of Fralin P-90's in a reissue '72 Fender Deluxe Tele a few years ago, and it remains my favorite electric guitar.

if it asks for a password, it's: mig
I don't think I'd ever personally use anything except a Fralin for a P-90, but I've played with Seymour Duncan's P-90's, and they're pretty good. For the price, they can't be beat.
Since you'll need to route the body, not only width and heighth, but also depth, I'd definitely find a cheaper body to dig into. A nice Mexi Tele would be a great starter, or perhaps buying just the body on eBay and adding all the other parts yourself. A few pieces from Warmoth and some elbow grease, you'd have yourself a killer guitar.
I'd be more concerned with what pickup to put in the bridge to complement the P-90 in the neck...
Oh, one more piece of P-90 / Tele eye candy...
