GEEZUS!!!! I'd be ropable if I were you guys! Have you contacted 10C about it? It's not good enough :( It'd be bad enough for an 'every day' piece of merch, but this is a Ltd collectors item!

I was so relieved when my ITW vinyl arrived in perfect condition, after hearing of a few people in Aus; receiving damaged one's.

I'm not a whinger....but no way would I be accepting such a special book in any less than pristine condition.

Glad they've finally arrived on your shores though :)

mine arrived yesterday YAY and, although it's okay, the slipcover has wee dings in two corners, i thought the shipping was more expensive because they'd double-boxed it or something...but no. this, however, is my ONLY complaint.

it's the most beautiful book i own...in fact, it's the most beautiful book i've ever seen. it's stunning. i'm so pleased to have it! and i was REALLY pleased to see jeff describe a poster i own (and i only have 3 ames posters) as 'the grail of pearl jam posters' - fuckin a.
Are you going to do anything about it? I didn't even think about doing anything when my ITW arrived with rips in the sleeve. I knew there was no point, but this book cost me over $300. My guess is they'd get us to send it back ($50 shipping) and then refund I suppose. I'd rather have the book less than perfect than not at all.

    Which poster?

    Which poster?

exactly, and the dings in mine are tiny. it came a long way. yes, they should have packaged it better but, really, as soon as you rip that shrink wrapping off it's not 'brand new' anymore and i could easily put dings in it myself at some point. certainly hasn't affected my enjoyment of the book, it's not enough to affect the value, and i'm not about to bother firing off a shitty email to 10c because they should have sprung for another layer of cardboard. i'm just not that grumpy about it.

the no code istanbul 'mosquito' poster. great to discover he did the whole thing in rubylith, i've been staring at it for years and marvelling at how beautifully handmade it looks...and now i know how much sweat went into it - it really IS handmade. it's fab.

I hear what you're saying and I didn't mean for you send them an abusive e-mail....nothing of the sort.....I just feel that they need to know. As far as they know they're doing it all properly and everyone is getting their items in good nic. If they don't know they're doing something wrong, in this case - insufficient packaging of a very special and expensive item, they aren't going to ammend the problem in future. We all pay top postage down here, so it should be sent accordingly.

I also hear you when you say, that no doubt you'll end up putting a few dings in it yourself....that's fine and yes it is a second hand item as soon as you open it, but you didn't purchase a second hand item so it shouldn't be in second hand condition before you even open it.

 Oh ma gawd  Rant over. Sorry bout that :o

nice rant:) i haven't bothered to read the related threads, but i suspect they already know that the packaging wasn't quite robust enough. i used to send out thousands of books every day as part of my job, it's tricky if you don't know what you're doing. tell ya what, next time they publish a book (pj autobiography, anyone?) i'll send them a letter offering them my services!

god, i really do love this book tho. i love it more than my benaroya vinyl.

Not keen to offload quickly or even to offload at all! :) I was just curious how much you'd pay for it. I wouldn't sell it for anything less than the top dollar it's gone for on ebay, probably even more that because I like it so much and it's mine. I suppose I could always rebuy off ebay, but it wouldn't be the same because it wouldn't be the one I bought.

How much would you be willing to pay for one? Less than the ebay price?

Ive seen them sell for around 500-600, but then Ive seen them sell around 400-450....
If I had the money I guess somewhere between 450-600.
But being broke at the moment If I saw one for 200 I would have to pass.......Sucks to be broke sometimes....:p

What would be the lowest u would sell it for.....pm me if u dont want to post the amount.......:)
What would your ideal price be?

I just don't want to sell it, so the lowest I would sell it for would have to be at least $600, if you say you've seen it go for that. Of course, things would change if I needed the money but thankfully, as yet, it's not the case.

Yeah I can understand that....I tried buying it when it was released and my computer wouldnt let me purchase it cos of the security software and the way it was set....Had I used another computer in the house it probably wouldve been a different story...
Well Ive been having a lot of success with Lotto so if my numbers come up I might pm u...and of course payment would be more than 600 ;)

If u ever do sell, let me know first....Do u play it??

hmm, what an amusing conversation youse have been having:)

i've played mine once - i recorded it to minidisc as it was playing so i have listened to it lots - just not played it. which is not to say i never play vinyl coz i do. just not that one.

just got back from womad - neil finn - surprise act - you always wish for something like that to happen at womad, although it is always a weekend full of surprises, pity about the tides, missed out on good 'naki surf. one day ed will turn up with his uke, yeah right.

funny thing is that i ordered a different poster and got this one. at the time i was running a pj email list called mosquito so it was kinda spooky when it arrived.

Yeah, that's a cool poster. By the sounds of things the pic doesn't do it justice. Where did you order it from? I guess it was better than the poster you actually ordered, or not? Did they sell that one when they had the big mystery poster sale at 10C? Here's a link to the expressobeans page for it, more pics there. That's an expensive poster. I really want the 95 Asia poster (since I was there but don't remember seeing posters there) and it's a similar price but even if I had the Istanbul I think I'd find it hard to trade away even for that. It's nice.

As for Benaroya, no I don't play it because I don't have a record player anymore. Will I play it? I suppose I probably will. I want to buy a really nice turntable, to do it (and others) justice :)

I don't get why you'd record it to minidisc? Why not listen to the CD (or copy that to MD?) Not judging, just asking :)
