Boss DD 3 Delay Pedal

I was putting my new pedal board together today and I recently got the DD 3 Delay pedal but I have seemed to miss place the owners manual. I need help in how to use the "HOLD" feature. I tried messin around with it but couldn't figure it out. What does it do and how do you do it? Does anybody own this pedal and know how to use this function?

I've got the dd-6, which also has hold.

What the hold function does is record whatever you play while pressing down the pedal. I don't know if it's the same as on the dd-3, but my dd-6 can record for up to 5 seconds.

If memory serves it just repeats a small phrase infinitely (but I think it's only like 2 seconds).
Turn everything up and press the pedal - it just repeats what you've played.
