i have a blue teal sg and i am not very happy with its tone. it is stock and has the standard humbuckers you would normally get in an sg. i was thinking about maybe putting in some p90s. i know that the gibson p90s require a new pickguard and routing out of the body, which i am not too keen on doing. someone suggested trying fralins because they fit in a standard humbucker hole. has anyone tried the fralins or do you have other suggestions? thanks.

Fralin P-92's are an excellent option. http://www.fralinpickups.com
I also like the harmonic design z90 http://www.harmonicdesign.netMy Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0 -

+1
Either of those will be a huge improvement over stock Gibson parts IMHO.0 -
Fralin P-92's! I guess we all agree!
They'll fit right in the existing pickguard and are pretty easy to put in.
Generally, you'll want two different ones. The bridge one will have more windings on it than the neck one.
I think they come with 8000, 9000, and 10,000 and 11,000 windings. If you get an 8000 for the neck and 9000 for the bridge,,, you'll be rocking!

You can get them wound to your specs, but stick with stock winds if you don't know what you're doing. I generally go 12-15% hotter in my bridge than my neck, and I went 8200 winds on my Delia neck.
P-92's get my vote0 -
cool thanks for the info guys. i will definitely look into the fralins. i think i'll go with the stock winds because i have no idea what i am doing lol."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
