Why the SG?

Does anyone know why eddie suddenly switched to a gibson sg for the riot act tour? I believe he used a schecter or a peavey before but any answers or clarifacations would be great.

Because Gibson told him it has magical powers.
It was a Schecter PT before....and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.0 -
it probably involved pete townshendMy whole life

Because SG's are the SHIT. Their clean bridge sound isn't the most attractive, but overdrive that son bitch and it's Cpt. Crunch time!"Sooner or later you'll bare your teeth"

how funny would it be if next tour he comes out with a late 70's Les Paul Deluxe with a Dimarzio Super Distortion sandwiched inbetween the two mini buckers and a #1 in the middle of the body.
Then he pulls out an old J200 acoustic.... and starts doing Drown and excerpts from Quadrophenia during presets. My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0 -
prerogative. he just plays whatever feels good at the time it seems. last time around he had the S fetish going.0

oh certainly, some of the the procedes went to Pete's double 0 charity anyhow.
with the cash that Ed makes and his love for Pete, why not buy one? I wouldn't be suprised if he has a few oringinals stashed away.
its funny to me Mike and Stone change up stuff virtually daily with little notice, ed changes his shorts and people go nuts.My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0 -
definitely the Pete Townshend thing...
I mean, the PT Schecter and the P-90 SGs, not to mention the Hiwatt... very much because of Townshend.
Plus, if I had the resources... I would change up my gear like that too, I mean you are playing a world tour... it would keep things fresh to play on a different guitar... maybe help you look at songs differently, take a new approach. There's No Code.0 -

what do you mean If?
You've traded in tons of stuff. My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0 -
he's been mimicking townshend since day one, actually daltre as well with the hair. now im not usually oen to talk about eds hair but hes gone long long long, med curly, and short curly, all reminiscent of dalty, and for gear...well shit, youve all gone through that...didnt he actually play one of this LP's with neil fin??0

I guess you are right. I just mean that I would take it up a notch if I was a touring musician.
However, I am becoming slow in my old age (sarcasm), no new stuff for me in the past three months now... that's an eternity to me.There's No Code.0 -
I think he had the SG left over from his AC DC cover band side project.Yes, and thanks for the trouble you took from her eyes. I thought it was there for good so I never tried.0

I'd give my left nut to see Pearl Jam do an AC/DC tribute concert....and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.0 -
i think it would be really funny to see any of pj guitarist with ibanez rg : )
Ed might be influenced by Pete but i think it's ok. I don' t like people who are against having the same gear as your personal heroes. Eddie is just same kickass rocker as we are (or vice versa)) so i don' t think it is strange

I think that's his only flying V now. But I could be wrong. I know the black one is toast, he smashed it up rather well. : )
Then again, it's been a year and a half since then...so I'm sure he's stocked up again.7-9-03 New York(MSG II baby!)

Stone still has the Gibson, if he ever needs to borrow one...
I have a cheap Explorer that's really cool, too. He could borrow that anytime... just call me up, Mike, I'll drive it right to your door......and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.0 -
