I was just wondering if any of you guys have tried, or know the difference between the Classic, 101A and 101b? And which one sounds the best?

    They are all great amps. Very versatile having three independent channels... the main differences come in the drive and lead channels and how they are voiced. Which is best is a matter of personal preferrence. I liked the Classic, but I don't play with much gain, so the stronger voices of the 101s weren't something I would use... I felt the classic had more sag to it as well... a little softer in the response.

    The 101A is what is now referred to as the Classic

    The 100 / 101 denotes the difference in power tubes. The 100's use 6l6's, the 101's use el34's. I prefer the sound of el34's in Marshall-style amps...which is basically all the Ecstacy is...a tricked out...heavily modded Marshall.

    Great amps...just not my cuppa.
