Stringing up an SG query

I have an Epiphone SG and recently Ive started to break a few strings so I thought about changing the way in which I string.

I used to push the string through the tailpiece and then wind but Ive tried pushing the string thru the tailpiece backwards and over the tailpiece and then winding (Confusing??)

Will this method help in stopping strings break as much?

Im sure I read somewhere that the angle of the string is not as severe.

Hope someone can clear this up.

    First you need to examine where the strings are breaking. You might need to check the bridge for burrs or change to a lighter pick.
    My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

    Like paco said, the bridge might have something that snaps the strings, like a burr... I would recommend graphite saddles, they fixed a similar problem on my old Les Paul.

    Strings break less as you learn to control your dynamics, too...
    ...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.
