The words are amazing. Ed sure can write a song
Thanks for the spelling correction you were the first to notice...;)Conversations getting dull

Before 'Off He Goes' Ed says, "That's a little song about friendship. About a friend that is an asshole". Then he points his finger at himself saying quietly that he is an asshole. The audience responds: "Noooooo!".Let's say knowledge is a tree, yeah.
It's growing up just like me.0 -

Doesn't it annoy anyone else that the word 'perfectly' doesn't really fit in the line - “Perfectly unkempt cloths” ?!!
Or maybe that's just the point...it doesn't fit perfectly!!!
Gotta agree with everyone though. Beautiful song. Almost painfully beautiful.

This was the first PJ song I fell in love with - it never gets old or loses its emotional impact on me. I was out of my mind to hear it at Mansfield I.nothing's changed but the surrounding bullsh1t0

I was totally having an outer body experience during the song at Mansfield I 2008. Then it turned into a very special PJ moment for me after the song ended!!!!! Usually when Ed wants someone to have his guitar pick he points to you and throws it!!! Well I almost had a heart attack!!!! Ed came over in front of me leaned over the pit, grabbed my hand very strongly and put the pick in my palm. The moment felt like it lasted forever!!!! A girl to my right said" You almost pulled him into the crowd!!!" WOW never gonna forget that, and especially after "OFF HE GOES"

"Indifference" would be my answer.
but right as i read the question "sleight of hand" popped into my head
"I'll see you on the other side..."
*edit* i'm a real asshole tonight. I dont' know what is wrong with me. I am moving faster than my brain. I read "is there a song that is as important to you as this one is to me" after i answered i saw what the post really read. I'm sorry release 30 and everyone else who posted here. I truly apologize :(“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

this song has become a sort of vehicle for me in terms of turning people on to some of PJ's songs. i throw this on, and people can relate somehow. lyrics are somewhat decipherable, guitars and rhythm are just fluid. it's placid and soaring enough to make people want to hear more. i don't, however, follow this song with 'lukin' or 'blood'.I love to turn you on0

Could possibly be my absolute favorite song. At least it is right now and it's always "up there". Considering how great their catalogue is (quantity-wise and quality-wise) that says a lot. LOVE ITAnother habit says it's in love with you
Another habit says its long overdue
Another habit like an unwanted friend

It replaced Black as my favorite some time ago. Seems the older I get, then more acutely I can relate to it. Unfortunately enough.everybody wants the most they can possibly get

This has always been one of favorites. Nails my best from growing up to a T.
I was lucky enough to see Ed do this one at night 2 of his solo show in Chicago this summer. That song alone was worth the price of admission for me.Chicago-United Center 6/18/2003

I have always loved the live versions of "Off He Goes", but now, listening to the studio version, I love it just as much!"A beacon on dry land"0
