I am listening to Release right now. It has been a while since I listened to it. I can just really relate to it right now. Its funny how a song written by a complete stranger can relate to someone else so much, amazing. Such a great song...

when I'm walking to class I listen to Release on my iPod nearly every single morning and it makes my day. Puts me in another world. I've been in the process of getting my 17 yr. old brother into PJ, and the first time he heard that song it gave him goosebumps. powerful0
-
Its the lyrics and the way Ed sings it that makes the song. Beautiful.0
-
never got into this song until after seeing them open with it in Saskatoon, now I absolutly love this song. Now the only song I skip over on Ten is Garden!0

oh dear dad,
can you see me now,
i am myself,
like you somehow..
honest to god, troothDown the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green0 -

in Edmonton, back in 93 and the last time they were through in 2005...
I wondered if they remembered that they opened with Release the first time and thought it was totally awesome tht they did it again.
Lyrically as good as it gets and musically sound... this one is one of my favorites...
Incidentally I don't skip over any song on ten... not a single weak song in the bunch... nut just my humble opinion.
Cheers,

this is the song that started my deep appreciation of them, I heard alive and black first on the radio but release is my all time favorite.0

they opened with Release on my first PJ show...Toronto 03...that was awesome....it set the tone for a very god show" All the stars in the sky, thought you were up in mine

Whenever I feel down I listeng to this song and feel much better... It´s like a prayer and even though I´m not a religious person or so, it really serves me well to listen to it, sing it loud and extern my feelings to nowhere and feel better just by doing it... just amazing the way Eddie sings and the music, just gorgeous!!!
One of my faves.. !

Listen to it on the beach, and just run when it gets to the "I wait up in the dark..." part. liberating0

I've heard this is a pretty easy song to learn. Does anyone have Tab for this. I have the PJ tab book, but that kind of break down is harder for me to figure out than user friendly tab since I am a beginner and can't read music. Any help would be appreciated.Alpine Valley 06-13-99 [EV-Solo]

However, with Bruce Springsteen songs, especially Jungleland and Born to Run, I think that Bruce hasn't captured my life as much as my culture. That the essence of how I define myself is brought to life through another person's stories. Pretty cool.
With Pearl Jam it's almost like the "What Song are You Thread." I'm Crazy Mary and RearviewMirror. Again, another artist doesn't know my life particulars, but my culture, my essence have been defined through another person's stories. There is no such thing as leftover pizza. This song hurts. :(
It's always been one of my top favs but honestly...it's really hard to listen to most of the time.
*sigh*
And that just makes me love it even more.¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤

Yeah, exactly. It seems like there is atleast one defining PJ song out there for everyone.
About Release... amazing. The energy live is breath taking.
Tokyo 03-03-03 is a perfect example. What an amazing way to open a show.Oh he fills it up with the love of a girl...0 -
I woke up with this song spinning inside my head, which is a pretty good way to get up! It has grown a lot on me since first time I heard it.
"oh dear dad,

I'll wait up in the dark
for you to speak to me
I'll open up
release me"
Beautiful.
I also think the outtro is pretty cool,. as it somehow ties the whole thing together with the opener Once, so the album just can go on forever (excluding the bonus tracks).Michael
