Ok, so Petty just announced his. I'm just crossing my fingers for a PJ Tour 2008. What do you think the chances are of a tour? How about an Album/Tour? Thoughts? Oh yeah, and I'd love to see them at ALPINE!!!! Also, I think I would travel to the Gorge if they played there again. Let's all hope for the best!

yes I am. we can only hope.Nice shirt.0 -
I see this next tour working along the lines of the Riot Act album tour. A new album this fall, with U.S. dates starting in the spring through summer of '09. Maybe Australian, Japan, South American dates during the winter..0

I don't care if I ever see Petty again but I like where your head is at. I'm hoping for some select outdoor venues as well and Alpine is of course on the top of my list as well as Gorge, Red Rocks, maybe Lolla again, Bonnaroo?0 -
That cryptic 10C email raised my hopes for something good this year, but I really don't see there being a tour (no more than a few festivals or a few scattered shows) and I really doubt there will be an album.
I always prepare myself for the worst and if it turns out better then I will be a happy ladAll I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow
They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all0 -
Bonnaroo and maybe a few select cities in the South and that is it. They WILL work on their album this year, but there is no possible way that it will be out and a full tour in the fall- sadly, it's nearly impossiblewww.RLMcDaniel.com

Where are you seeing Petty announced his? I can't find info on that anywhere.
EDIT: Nevermind....found it0 -

After browsing the history of touring for this band, I would guess that they actually will be touring this year, maybe summer, but more likely fall. 2005 and 2006 were massive years with extensive touring. However, they only played 14 shows in 2007, and only 2 of those were US dates. After the 2000 tour, they only played 8 shows in 2001 and 2002 combined, before launching another huge tour in 2003. 2001 and 2002 back to back combine for the least active years for this band. In most other occurences, they will take a year off or have a limited year following big tours (like 05 and 06, followed by the mellow year of 07). Therefore, I would predict that they will take almost a full year off, which would be Aug 08 before launching anything significant. this tour would then be a medium sized US tour (20-25 shows) that would be over by the end of 08. Besides, I would prefer a fall tour if'n they are gonna play the Gorge again, that heat in 06 was unbearable, Sept at the Gorge, ala 05, is SO much nicer....I hold the pain, release me!0

yeah that email along with the elections, now has me thinking about and hoping for, a tour
if there are shows, all I ask is that they announce them all at once, and sooner rather than later
thanks0 -

Maybe they could go the hardcore punk route and record the album in a day.0 -
you can't rule anything out, you never know with this band, remember the Canada tour, caught us completely off guard, so did the S.A. tour, they owe the south, I think they are coming down here this year9/4/98, 8/4/00, 12/8/02, 12/9/02, 4/15/03, 4/16/03, 4/19/03, 4/25/03, 4/26/03, 4/28/03, 4/29/03, 4/30/03, 7/8/03, 7/9/03, 9/28/04, 9/29/04, 10/6/04, 9/1/05, 9/2/05, 5/16/06, 5/17/06, 5/27/06, 5/28/06, 5/30/06, 6/1/06, 6/3/06, 8/5/07, 6/11/08, 6/12/08, 6/14/08, 6/16/08, 6/24/08, 6/25/080

If I had to guess they will do some sort of tour this year, possibly centered around Bonnaroo. 10-15 shows tops, maybe like Europe last year. It won't be a full on world tour for sure, but I just can't see them staying off the road all year given their recent history:
2003: Austalia, Japan, NA legs 1,2,3 - 77 shows
2004: VFC - 11 shows
2005: Canada, select US dates, South America - 37 shows
2006: NA legs 1,2, Europe, Australia, Hawaii - 75 shows
2007: Europe, Lollapalooza - 15 shows9/13/98, 10/4/00, 4/29/03, 6/29/03, 7/2/03, 9/28/04, 9/29/04, 9/15/05, 9/16/05, 5/12/06, 5/13/06, 6/27/08, 6/28/08, 6/30/08, 10/30/09, 10/31/09, 5/15/10, 9/11/11, 9/12/11, 10/19/13, 10/21/13, 10/22/13, 10/25/13, 10/27/13, 9/26/15, 4/28/16, 4/29/16, 8/5/16, 8/7/16, 8/13/18, 9/2/18, 9/4/18, 9/26/21, 9/1/22, 9/2/22, 9/14/22, 9/18/23, 9/19/23, 9/7/24, 9/9/24, 9/12/24, 9/15/24, 9/17/24, 5/16/25, 5/18/250
