I am voting for Tom Sawyer....see what he (or she) can do...and we could air drum along with him (or her).Reissy said:What's the most exciting song PJ could open with on the first show w/ the new drummer?
My answer: YOU ARE - deep cut, hard to pull off live, Cameron-written track that would truly show nothing is off the table.
People would lose their sh!t if that happened....

In other words the framework of the annual summer tour is in place each year and 2-3 years in advance.
The pop acts are notorious for this. I figure it's because a "flavor of the year" might have lost some of their popularity several months later.
October: "Such pop artist is going on tour next summer! The presale starts tomorrow using code ALBUM_NAME or SUMMER_TOUR" or some equally-generic code.
Pearl Jam has usually been the opposite. Tour announcements are generally in the few months before, not the few seasons before.
What is happening is ticket sales much farther in advance of the performance dates. Time value of money is the reason, not music trends. Pearl Jam has bought into this, along with their higher ticket prices. It is really all ticketmaster's business plan to squeeze every dollar out of every show.0 -
I just bought a ticket for Billy Strings in Boston and it was 101$ after fees.
Just putting it out there...#Grievance20250 -

Yeah, I got TWO tickets to the Greensboro show in April. 4th row, isle seats right beside the stage. 75/each, came to $200 total with all the fees.Shaindli1 said:I just bought a ticket for Billy Strings in Boston and it was 101$ after fees.

I have family in Maine and might make the trek up for one of the Portland shows this summer. I'd love any sort of a hint of shows for PJ, understand if we don't get them, but my goal is making up for lost time, I did 17 shows between 2024 and 2025 DM run and if they even do a small run this fall I am going to try to hit all of them.runstaples said:

I understand the drummer angle on this. But personally, I don't need any more covers. I go to Pearl Jam shows to hear Pearl Jam songs. It's bad enough that we're pretty much guaranteed either Baba or RITFW at every single show.huntersthompson said:

I don't think the drummer will matter to 99% of the people at the concerts. I'm fine with a touring drummer. They are in year 35. Maybe 1 or 2 albums left.0

Separate topics for sure (I am with you on fewer covers)...my comment was just an attempt at a mediocre joke...although---? I wonder how it would sound now that I have put it out there in the universe....could EV even sing that song? Whoever does take over behind the drum kit...I hope that they are afforded a killer drum solo every once in a while...maybe every tenth show-make it feel like you were "lucky" to have seen it.....aisleseats said:

Wrigley 2016 N2 is on PJ radio and I want the Wrigley rumor to materialize. It was a late August show. So March announcement for late August shows?#Grievance20250

I took it as the joke intended haha, but the response on covers also prompted me to think about what that 2nd set opener that is the Ed acoustic song would be like if it were always an acoustic PJ song. It's almost always a cover. What if we got Comes Then Goes, or Around The Bend or something.huntersthompson said:

I feel the same. Love Matt, but sight unseen I couldn't tell the difference between him or Jack or Dave. Any new drummer is unlikely to change that.bootlegger10 said:I don't think the drummer will matter to 99% of the people at the concerts. I'm fine with a touring drummer. They are in year 35. Red Rocks used to let bands hold dates for 4 or 5 years. Now it's a strict 2 year rotation.
That's why you see the same bands on the same weekend year after year.
Bands like Avett bros, Widespread, Jason Isbell play the same weekend year after year at Red Rocks.
Blues Traveler always plays July 4th. Etc etc0
