I was in Best Buy today wearing my band wagon t shirt, while pushing my daughter around in a cart. A little guy in a blue best buy shirt started singing "don't call me daughter" as I walked in front of him. I was so focused on what I was there to do that I didn't realize til much later that I had been singing Daughter the rest of the time I was shopping. I wish he would have spoken to me about the band instead. because before that I had been jonesing on Crown of Thorns for days, and was really enjoying it. "Have you ever heard a story, about Mr. Faded Glory" and I felt in synch with the world around me. NOW b/c of some little guy, I'm stuck on daughter. Thanks dude.

Love this song..... I am so touched Eddie wrote it about his mom...anyone know if this is really true...

it is one of my all-time fave pj tunes. who knows how 'true' it is or not..have heard that often enough, but only ed could truly answer that.

i think no matter what, the song resonates for many b/c no matter the situation...we all can identify with the idea of 'settling'...and no one wants to do that.

besides the fact...some of the most beautiful imagery present lyrically......"she dreams in color, she dreams in red..." as an artist, i love the symbolism...color theory is such an interest of mine...and red in particular has powerful meaning, a very potent color. ed is not unique in choosing such a color, it is mentioned in many, many songs.....but just goes to show it's strength of imagery....and it's simply a damn fine song.

love it.

also, to put another spin on it...i think many times, one does not even realize they are settling...can't find a better man/woman...until after a good deal of time passes within their relationship and then it becomes oh so clear and amazingly so. so i think the idea of 'dreaming' of it...probably very true....that elusive 'something' missing, that you can't quite put your finger on...until there it is, a clear vision at last...and up to you to stop dreaming, and make it a reality.

yes, i truly love this song...never leaves me.

beautifully sad....but somehow i like to think while we don't find out within the song, but hopefully all that dreaming does lead to more in life...or i like to think/hope so.
