The Real Story Behind I Got ID/S**t

So on my instagram feed I stumbled across this page called solatpod. They had producer Brett Eliason on. He explained the title isn’t ID as in “ego”, but I.D. as in the abbreviation for identification. He says it’s called that because Ed’s stalker at the time rhymed with I.D. (Not sure if I can post the name here).
Fascinating. I had no idea. Did anyone else know this?
Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer

Also the SOLAT pod is awesome. If you aren't familiar, I highly recommend perusing through past episodes. My favorite was the one last year when they interviewed Mike. The podcast is very well done, and the two hosts are phenomenal interviewers and always come prepared.#Grievance20250

So the story that Eddie told about "Neil and the guys were working on some songs. I told Neil I didn't have anything...I got shit" was obviously fake.Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"0

Or both were true. Hence the two titles, both not having anything to do with the song itself.Lost In Ohio said:So the story that Eddie told about "Neil and the guys were working on some songs. I told Neil I didn't have anything...I got shit" was obviously fake.Post edited by mookeywrench on0 -
I wonder what happened to Heidi.I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

Well, one is a direct line from the song. So when I heard that story, I immediately thought it was made up. Unless he wrote the title first and then wrote a song around that. But that seems backwards.mookeywrench said:

Also funny thing is when the song first came out, I called it I.D. (I don't think I even knew what id was at the time, so never occurred to me to call it that.) After being corrected by several friends, I've called it "id" for the last almost 30 years now.0 -
Yeah probably right, creative writers never work backwards.0

Eddie has called it by all 3 at one point I believe. But mostly id. I still call it id and not ID.I miss igotid880
