Karen, a good friend of mine, died on New Year's Day. Her wake was last night, funeral mass is today.

My Aunt Barbara remarried and found a great guy, Jack, and Karen was his daughter. Karen was best friends with my cousin/her step-sister Barbara, and we became friends.

Karen was relentlessly positive and quite possibly the biggest supporter of my quest to find love lol. She would tease her boyfriend about leaving him for me, would bug Barbara's friends about hooking up with me lol. She was the absolute, absolute best.

She was in poor health for years, and the last time I saw her, I had to leave the hospital because I couldn't take it. It wasn't her. Wasn't vibrant, full of life, cracking jokes. I regret it now, because I didn't really say goodbye. She was on the upswing lately, and was sounding and looking like her normal self. Her heart gave out during surgery on New Year's Day.
