Haven't been able to work it out, I have a few ideas but don't want to write them down because they are probably wrong and will make me look like an idiot!

    the whole tincture/teacher debate has raged for many a year and I could never understand why people thought it was teacher :confused:

    tincture is a strange word I suppose and its not really one people would use daily so i can see where it might get lost in translation... :)

    a varmint is a colloqualism for farm pests in the US but it derives from Vermin... rats, pigeons, etc... animals that are pests usually :)


    but in future Yosemite Sam you should be singing "..FIRMEST PATH" :)

    how can you spill a teacher... unless your teacher is Flubber or whatever the fuck that robin williams thing was called... :)

    I was pretty sure the line is " varmints/vermins path " it can make sense

    you're pretty sure on that line but not sure on the tincture line... :confused:

    varmints dont usually associate themselves with paths??? rats use sewers, pigeons fly, wild rabbits have runs or burrows??

    the phrase "firmest path" is in common use... it just makes sense to me anyway :)

    now bear in mind that this song is on a Vitalogy, which is an album (artwork and inspirationally) based on an old medicine book.. now tincture isnt a normal everyday word but it would have been in that book and thats where Ed might have picked up on it and used it :confused:

    you can see a tincture is a volatile set of substances in a liquid form... hence the spill part.. . and also spilling a tincture of volatile spirits ties in with the rest of the song.. just guessing though :cool:

    I'm picturing Eddie sitting down with a pad of paper and a medical dictionary writing about a jacket he saw in a store window.

    My two cents: IT's tincture and firmest.

    I agree that it very well could be firmest....that makes sense, however, it doesnt sound like Ed to take the "path most traveled".
